Rupes or Makita 9227CX3 ?

My Dewalt rotary was stolen. And although I have only had occasion to use it half a dozen times, I would like to become more proficient with the rotary.

I currently have a couple of new GG RO's, a HarborFreight RO and a Flex 3401.

Question is, the Rupes is twice the cost of the Makita and with the choice of pads and products available, my current arsenal is more or less sufficient for me to correct just about anything - skill level aside :target:

So if you wanted to up your game and were in my shoes, your choice would be ...?

Guess I have to call Kevin :cell: $

But you think the Rupes (in the right hands) will do that much better/faster then the 3401?

Rupes!! I almost never reach for my rotary anymore and I have not touched my GG6 at all. I've actually tried to sell it, but kept it because I thought I might use it for something. Nope...

The only thing I use my rotary for is for polishing in tight places, something the Rupes (and all DA's) have trouble with; especially with the Bigfoot's stroke!

Needless to say you get the ease of control with a DA and the comfortable grip of a rotary. Like Thomas said, you can pick up a used rotary fairly easily, good luck finding anyone willing to part with a Rupes!

The only downside to the Rupes is it gets hotter faster, and can be pretty weak when tilted on side panels.

Which one do you have?

I've been standing on the high diving board looking down trying to get the courage up. I may call Kevin. Have a few questions ...
