Rupes LHR 75E Mini for polishing side panels & roof ONLY?

Hello, happy new year. I`m going to run past my "grand" idea past you :)

I have a GG6 and a GG3, used once for my new car. Thankfully my car didn`t need much correction at all. I used the buffer for moderate compounding, polishing & sealing. Then I applied a wax by hand.

No complaints at all. I just need to refine my products, machines & technique.

I just had Suntek Ultra PPF installed on the hood and front quarter panels, and rear bumper.

I have some curves in my Macan.

I want to replace both my GG tools for a Rupes LHR 75E Mini to polish ONLY the side panels and roof.

I like the smaller 4" pad, its easier to get into tight spaces, lighter & quieter.

Looking at the Rupes Yellow, Green & UHS pad for now. I`m planning on mostly one stage fun using UHS compound or Scholls S20 Black OR if I need to go 2 stage with the yellow pad (or MF).

Can I use a 75 Mini for the soul purpose of polishing my side panels & roof?

Don`t plan on detailing other cars (other than my wife`s Cayman :)

Thanks for listening!

I used the GG 6” orange and black 6” BP. For the GG3 I used 3” lake country smart pads which came in the package in several colors and GG 4” black. If I where to do over I would get a 5” backing plate with boss pads and new backing plate 4” boss pads for the GG3. Thxs

A Flex XFE 7-15 150 with lake country HDO pads and 5” BP would be my second choice and would require a GG3 mod or replacement for the tight stuff. Duetto would be third in line, but great option also.[h=1][/h]

You absolutely could, but might find it limiting.

If I was in your position, I might sell the GG3, and get a 3" plate for the GG6, which is what I do with my Porter Cable 7424.

I also have a Duetto/Mini set up. I`ve used the Keramik/Yellow microfiber for one steps. You actually can`t go wrong with their system. Love their pads and polishes.

You`ll find out that 12mm still cant fit in places

You can either just bump down to a 5in plate(3 is an option too) for your GG6 and a 2in plate for your GG3

I actually sold my 75E for a GG6 with a Griot HD 3in plate

Another option if you still want a 12mm would be Adams Swirl killer mini and keep all 3

Noting that I have both the GG6 and the Rupes Mini among my polishers...I dunno if you`d really *need* the Rupes. I`d sure try the GG6 with a smaller plate first and see how that works. As noted, some areas are still gonna need done by hand/tiny unit like the Rupes ibrid nano.

Agree 100%. I also have both GG6 and Rupes Mini and I still use the GG with a 3” backplate and pads frequently. I like my Rupes mini, but I could do everything it does with the GG and 3” and 4” pads. I even use a 2” backplate and pads with it when needed.

Thanks for you help everyone. I`ve decided to stick to my plan. I`ll let you know how the Mini works out. If I need even more performance, I`ll pick-up either a LHR 15 MKII, Duetto or other 15mm DA :)
