RUBBING/swirl COMPOUND QUESTION

can you mix water with rubbing compound or swirl remover....i tried this and it made the product clean off easier and gave hardly any haze and it cleaned and treated the paint well, then off course i polished and waxed.....i mixed the water with ssr2.5

I tend to add a mist of water with my compound when using a rotary after I've worked the product in. But Poorboy Steve recommends a dry pad, at least with a Porter Cable. If you are using 2.5, PM him and ask.
I'm doing a highly oxidized car today, so I'll be using a lot of 2.5. I'll try various things and see what works best.

when I recieved FPII and IP, they came with a brochure regarding usage.

They both mentioned misting the pad w/ H20.

I've read many posts mentioning that h20 will make some polishes act more agressively than if used w/out h20.

In the case of some petro-based products, the water will make the oils separate from the mix increasing the abrasiveness.

I forgot about this thread.
I don't use water with Poorboy's Polishes or any of the finer liquid polishes or glazes. I use water with a commercial cut polish I have and with compounds. For really bad jobs, I often have a wool pad, which is much more condusive to misting--it doesn't "jump" or "hop" like foam pads do when they get wet.
I only ever mist with water with any product on oxidized vehicles, and occassionally bringing back wetsanding marks on small areas.
