Rover 220 Coupe - newbie detail

I'm somewhat new to this deatiling mollarky, however I had been washing and waxing the car regularly for a the first year of ownership before I discovered the world of detailing. Got myself a PC at xmas and finally got round to using the thing over my easter break from uni. So here are my efforts. It was a shame the light conditions weren't constant throughout the day, and my old digital camera struggled to capture a good shot of the metallis flake, but take it from me the process made a big difference. So here are my efforts...

Before (well kinda, I'd just finished cleaning the first wheel and arch)

The alloys before

After a thorough scrubbing with AG Clean Wheels I applied some AG alloy sealant stuff and topped with some NXT for good measure.

And the arches

After a good scrubbing and some gunk desgreaer they came up like this. Big improvement, but there is some more work in the pipeline to improve these further over the summer when the new rear brakes and possibly some lowering springs go on.

13years of neglect from previous owners....

Awash with NXT shampoo, two passes of SSR2.5, one of #7, #21 and #16 with the PC later...

Much better!

The rest of the car with the same procedure:

I used AG glass polish on the glass and Black in a Flash on all the black plastic trim.

What do you think of my first effort?

I think thats my favourite shot too.

I'm borrowing a mates new digital SLR in return for detailing his car in a couple of weeks so I hope to get some better shots of the reflection and metallic flake.

Excellent job! :up

I wasn't even aware that Rover made anything other than SUVs. What kind of drivetrain does your car have?

You;re borrowing a CAMERA for a DETAIL??? Wow, talk about an unfair trade! If you did a few details you could buy your own!!!!

And by the way, AWESOME detail.. that paint is really nice.. looks like there is no orange peel at all... i like the attention to detail.... everytihng looks great!

Cheers for the comments. Got the interior to do next. My newly acquired leathers need a bit of TLC.

Land/Range Rover were part of the Rover Group as was before BMW bought them, they then sold range/land rover to Ford, kept the Mini and sold Rover to then 'Pheonix 4' and then last year it all went belly up.

My car cam from the era when Rover were working with Honda. Its a FWD 2ltr 4 cylinder engine in mine. There is a turbo version pushing out 200bhp but I can't afford the extortionate insurance and running costs for it in the country.... maybe one day!

A little unfair maybe, but we're good mates and help each other out a lot, and I want the experience. Maybe one day I'll be able to make a bit of money out of it!

Next job is my mothers new 2004 Rover 75 Connoiseur SE when I get home from uni, so pics of that to following in a couple of weeks.
