Any of ya'll running a extension on your rotaries

The thought has come to mind a couple times - like today when you just want a little extra clearance

Like one of these from ADS

I think I saw some pictures of RickRack using one of those. It looks very handy. Four inch pads with that extension would be great for front and rear bumpers.

Actually the carried by ADS are even a lil bit shorter than what I would like if I had to buy some...I would probably want it even 3/4" longer. Looks are hard to tell by pics though....

but yes, I was using a spot pad on the inside edge on the trunk panel

I use the 3M spindle extension (05710). It adds about an inch and a half to the spindle length.

The extension is really nice to use on the Makita. I just like the extra distance. But, the extension seems too long for use on my Fein.

has anyone ever had problems with these? I've been looking for something like this for a while now, but is it any harder to control the pad in rotation with the extension on?

I use an extension for my smaller bp mainly because I have to...M14 thread so the 5/8ths to M14 adapter serves as the extension. I like the extra distance because it makes it easier to see if a small 4" pad is level on the paint.

+2 to that one :spot

Can an extension like this be picked up at the local Home Depot? I'd like to use my PC or Makita to remove some oxidation on an old (cultured marble) bathroom sink.

docrice -

Not home Depot but at a local autobody supply store, they should have the 3M one Porsceguy outline above.
