Rolls Royce Silver Ghost (1922) - Teaser Pics

Could this be my detail of the year???

Aint no paint or coating here...

So we set to first off by hand on a test section on the bonnet:

But still many swirls, so switched to PC:

Not bad considering this is bare aluminium we're polishing here - full defect removal is gonna be tough! :)

Anyways, just a final pic of where we got to today:

Full write up of this beauty (1922 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost) in about a week when we've finished! Thought you might like to see what will be keeping us busy from Monday onwards next week though! ;)

This is the car before we started:

and another pic of the front wheel arch and bonnet once completed:

Its gonna take a lot of time, and care, this car... I've started to polish the aluminium body panels, and Bryan who I detail with is doing the plated chrome:

The engine bay is something else (no plastic covers in there!! ;) ), it'll take a day easily to fully do. The owner is already very impressed with what she he seen so far, and has mentioned doing her other Rolls Royce too - its a little newer: 1934! :getdown

And this is what happens when you polish bare metal... it bleeds black!

Nothing to worry about, its perfectly natural for bare metal to do this... buffs off very easily. But ruins your microfibres and pads!!

Wow! This is definitely one of the coolest cars I've seen on this site. This is a very unique automobile. That car is going to look amazing when you're done.

Coolest thread of the year already... What are you using to polish the metal?

Brilliant Metal Polish 2 first, applied by PC with a Sonus SFX-3 6" pad. Then Brilliant Metal Polish 3 with a LakeCountry Black 6" pad.

I second that!! Nice work; that's a once-in-a-lifetime detailing chance. Can't wait for the final pics.! :2thumbs:

Couple more pics for you...

Just thought I'd let you see how we're getting on with the Silver Ghost... Espeically since it brightened up enough today to get the car out of the gloomy garage setting!

Left side of the bonnet complete, right side not touched:

The drivers side of the car:

And just to let you see a decent pic of the car i full now its outside, and also has its roof on (which took nearly an hour to put up!) - this side has not yet been detailed:

Owner is over the moon: looks like we may well be doing here 1939 Rolls Royce Wraith Limousine too! :woot2:

Dave, this is by far the best thread to hit the forum, we are all in true admiration of your detail, the opportunity, and the results.

Wow, that car is amazing. I'd love to see interior pictures. I can’t tell you how jealous I am, keep up the good work :2thumbs:

And post as many pictures as possible please :)
