Road paint on rocker panels

:nixweiss Hi Everyone. I have a friend who asked me if I could remove some "yellow line" paint from the rockers of his Chevy Blazer. Apparently he didn't know the paint was fresh when he drove over it and it sprayed onto the truck. It has been there for a few months, (I guess it wasn't that important to him, this I can't understand??!!!). I was wondering if clay would do the trick or should I try some kind of solvent from the local auto parts store? I didn't promise him anything, only that I would take a look after checking with my fellow Autopians. Thanks in advance for your help.

Try Prepsol or its equivalent ( Klean Strip Prep All for example) or, see the following:

Hi Bill,



I'm glad you were able to make the seminar. The brand is PPG and the

product is DX440. It's a wax/grease remover and prep product used prior

to painting a vehicle. It should still be available unless they changed

the product. Check with local automotive paint supply stores that carry

the PPG brand.



Be sure to test a small area before dong large panels. Be patient with

these types of products. The more aggressive they are the more likely

they will damage the finish.

That's a tough problem, I've solved it before with clay and a lot of time.

I agree with the clay bar, and a little silicone adhesive remover.
