Reviving a NEW paint job *56K nay*

EBPcivicsi

GOT PREP?
Today I detailed a 95 (I think) civic that had recently been painted. The painter must have used either bad paper or poor technique. There were sanding scratches all over it and tracers EVERYWHERE. While I could not remove some of the marks, I did my best to bring the “newâ€ paint back to life……Doesn’t that just sound wrong?

When the owner picked up the car she said they were washing it with a “dirty mitt. She knows that this was the cause of most of the swirls on the paint. She is a member of a local forum and has read a few write ups that I have posted. She uses the two bucket method with multiple mitts and MF. J

Process was:

Wash with GC

Spot clay

Meguiars #84 with the rotary and a polishing pad

#83 DACP via PC with a polishing pad

#80 speedglaze via PC polishing pad

LS by hand

OCW by hand

Tires are dressed with GC rubber/vinyl dressing

Notice the left over sanding marks in these pics…

Check just to the right of the window molding

Just behind the door…..These marks were ALL OVER the car.

Great work Joe! :xyxthumbs

Those scratches were awful! You made it look the way it should.

With the rotary work and the #84, #83 how much clear do you think you removed?

Thanks man, I honestly have no idea. I know that the PC even with DACP removes very little. I was rather aggressive with the #84....The clear was as hard as glass, but the paint was only a few months old???:nixweiss

Umm, wow!

My favorite!

LS is a great topper I see. I must revisit it :). I can't believe such neglect some people have when doing the job :(.

Good job.

However what i dont understand is why she would pick it up and deem the work acceptable enough for her to pay for it.

A "friend" did it, I don't think she wanted to put a "kink" in the relationship over it. One of the negative aspects of having a friend do work for you.

Wow nice job, what kind of a girl drives that car? I love those rims.

Thanks...

Hehe, you can sort of see her i the reflection here.

It also has GSR motor swaped in it and she does some of the work herself.

Top- notch work their bud. Happy to see that detailing does pay off w/ the ladies.... oh! wait, I'm married.

Keep-up the good work.

Haha, thanks for pointing that out, is it bad I wasn't paying attention to her contourted reflection and admiring the paint itself, and I still can't over the fact of those rims, plus the shaved doors. And she works on the car too!

I think you found an Autopian's dream wife. Too bad I'm stuck up here in NYC.

wow.. now THAT is what I'd like to be able to accomplish. Guess I really need that rotary. Amazing work. Next time, make sure to get some non-distorted, non-reflection pix of the fine owners of such autos :)

Could really use a big brake kit in those spacious rims, though... Especially with a GSR swap... Always with the horsepower, never with the stopping power... :P

Ok, I give up--why does it look like she's got some tan alien head with big bug eyes on her shoulder in that reflection?

Does thos pic help guys? ;)

She is very cute.....

Nice picture! She does have a nice face, lol. The yellow Nissan (looks like a nissan, her left thigh is getting in the way) anyway, haha.

Should I even say I cringed at her open bare handed palms are on the hood?

Keep up the good work, seeing all these clean cas really makes me want to clean my car, gotta wait till later, too hot now.
