Revisiting my window cleaning technique

I wanted to add my voice to those who swear by microfibre towels for cleaning windows/glass.

I decided to retry some Griot's glass cleaner (since I have a gallon of it!) on my wife's "new" (98) car using some 16 X 16 WW MF cloths. I'd never really liked the Griot's cleaner; while the results were eventually OK, it was a pain to use and I felt that even Windex did a better, easier job. Anyway I broke out the MF towels and what a difference!! No smearing, no having to do the glass a second time, just streak free, VERY clean windows!

So, before you ditch your present cleaner for some "better" product, try using MF, if you're not already. If your experience is like mine, you'll be VERY pleasantly surprised. :)

Ever tried Bigwig' s glass cleaning cloths ? They feel like shammies but are microfibers actually. Even dry wipe and the result is gleaming !!

Are you talking interior or exterior? I generally need to use some dilute APC on my windshield to get bug stains off, but after that I just rinse and wipe with MF. For my interiors, like you, I just do a quick wipe with Vroom MF every other week or so, and that does the trick!

I've never been able to get a streak-free clean on my windows. The first thing I may be doing wrong is not using MF. I use towels or paper towels. The second thing may be using Windex, water and vinegar, or just water. All result in streaks. Someone once recommended a product called Sprayway. They said it leaves a perfectly streak-free clean. I haven't tried it yet because I can't find it in any stores.

To avoid streaks, wiper back and forth inside and up and down outside. It will help you locate the problem easier and concentrate on it...

I've never had a problem with streaks on the outside. I use Rain-X on all my exterior glass and it always turns out beautifully. Maybe I should be using it on the inside as well?

Uhhh on the inside ?? Maybe an anti-fog would be better ???

Windex is awful. Get a couple of MF towels and a good glass cleaner like Spraywax, Stoner IG, or Meg's NXT, and it's pretty easy to get streak-free glass.

Never tried Sprayway, but saw it yesterday at Sam's Club and Lowes

try keeping a mf just for glass.....then wet the window and dry with that mf

seems to me the less you put on the glass the easier it is to clean

some products are less is more such as stoner ig imo less is wayyyyy more.

Meg's NXT Glass Cleaner with PakShak WW Glass MF towels is what I use. This combo does an absolutely amazing job of cleaning the windows, without any streaks or smears.

Also, (and I don't know if it's related to my use of NXT) even when I just wash the car now, the glass seems to turn out sparkling, and that's before I do the windows (which is the last step, in order to clean off any potential residue from other cleaning products I've been using on the paint).

I tried Vroom glass cleaner today with a Vroom glass MF...streaks and haze galore! Either their MF is junk (80/20 - it does have some pile to it - may not be the best for glass?), the glass cleaner sucks, or my technique is what's lacking...!

Not to mention - hard water spots all over the glass...ugh...
