Reviewing my process

Next weekend I am planning to detail a good friends truck. This time however instead of doing Collinite 845, I`m going to do McKee`s 37 Paint coating.

I`ll start with wash, decon, clay.

I`ll do a test spot but with the use this vehicle gets and how he maintains it I`m sure it will require compound then polish.

That is where my questions arise. I normally use Fast correction cream with Boss MF followed by Perfecting cream and Yellow Boss pad.

McKee`s Paint coating says to use the McKee`s Prep polish first then coat it.

Does McKee`s prep polish replace the Perfecting cream step or is this going to be an additional step?
 
I think McKees Prep Polish is non-abrasive (i.e. more of a Paint Cleanser) so you may not get the desired results from FCC + Prep polish if you have some haze you would probably want to follow up with Perfecting Cream and then MPP.
Best bet ofcourse would be to do a test spot with your system first.

Not sure if pad dependent, you might try and get lucky, if not it`s another step.
 
Its an additional step that you would do immediately before applying the coating. It`s not going to remove any defects or add any gloss since it`s just a chemical polish with no abrasives, but it is going to remove all of the oils that are on the paint so your coating will bond properly onto the paint.
