Review: Wheel Woolies and Boars hair detail brush.

Today I got a chance to try the wheel woolies on my 2001 TL, my TL was my lucky winter beater and I have not cleaned the wheels since October of last year, when I reviewed the Wolfgang Uber Wheel Cleaner.

So today was a chilly day(high of 40) and I am preparing to take my 2001 TL to Florida next weekend where it will sit at my parents place for 3 month till I move back to Tampa.
I gave the whole car a TRIX treatment and then washed with CG citrus wash.


So here are my thoughts on the Wheel Woolies, Love them!!! First thought was it felt so soft that I couldn’t imagine they would do a good job but I was wrong, once wet they have excellent scrubbing power. Also it made it really easy to get between the caliper and the barrel without getting splashed.
Then the boars hair brush made cleaning the lug nuts a breeze, it fits perfect and did a great job of breaking up brake dust. Also ended up using this to clean the fuel door and exterior trim.

Daytona brush or Carrand wheel brush were my go to for cleaning wheels, but the Daytona brush can have some splash back and same for the carrand. Even though the Daytona is flexible, ergonomically the wheel woolies win here with the angled handle. I will now use my Daytona for exhaust tips and cleaning the grill.

For the wheels I first sprayed TRIX and let it sit for about one minute or so then sprayed the wheels with CG citrus wash with a foam sprayer.

TRIX started to dry so I sprayed the other wheels with CG Citrus wash.

Again my apologizes for not taking a after pic today but this is what it looked like, but finished with Blackfire CS and Pinnacle Black Onyx.

I like my Wheel Woolies. I have the 3-pack. I may look into getting the new "bent" Spoke Wheel Brush.

I still find myself using my Daytona's though as well. I find that a combo of brushes works best.
 
Awesome review, Dhaval. They seem to work great as advertised. They would seem to be able to remove stubborn brake dust from wheels compared to the Daytona brush. Since you've used both, can you confirm that they do?
 
I like my wheel woolies too but I crammed the larger one between a caliper and barrel and in the process pulling it out (should have pushed it through) ripped some of the "woolie". They are tough but a sharp edge (like on the thin sheet metal shield behind the caliper) can damage them.
 
Awesome review. I have both the Wheel Woolies and the Daytona. I keep switching off between the two. For my Dodge Ram I use the Daytona since the wheels are so wide open. For my other cars I use my Woolies cause they fit in tight spaces.

Just picked up a Boars Hair Brush. I can't wait to try it out.

Yea, but I realized for the smaller spokes on my TSX it was a bit tough.

I felt the woolies did a better job of breaking up the brake dust. When I have more time I will try both of them out so see if my findings are true.

Hey Al, do you have the older one without the angle head?

Sounds like it got caught on the brake shield, that's why I liked these with a angle it gave me more cleaning power without interfering with the shield.

No I do not. I just tried to cram in the gap and the woolie head was just too big. I should have used a smaller one.
 
+1 on the Wheel Woolies.

I have the original 3 brush set w/o the angled brush. I use the Woolies along with the BMW Wheel Brush kit to keep my wheels clean.
