Review: Proto v17 Rinse-Less Wash (Wolfgang???)

TroyScherer

Ummm.... Ya.....

As my detailing journey has progressed over the years I have realized that I really enjoy the wash process as that what I do the most. This lets me try and use a multitude of car wash types and soaps. So I feel like I have a good handle on what is a good rinse-less wash for me.

The label says 1oz - 3gal. So I started by filling up 1.5 gallons of warm water and .5oz of the Proto v17. I usually use 1 gallon of water for my rinse-less wash and then another product for my presoak. But due to not wanting to have any variations I used the Proto v17 as my presoak as well. So I mixed up my bucket of solution and put some into my pump sprayer.

The car in question had nearly 1000miles of drive time going from Ohio to North Carolina and back in a week. It went through multiple rain storms, sand, salt, dirt, standing water, etc... So it was IMO dirty enough that I would normally do a full regular wash. But I thought this would be a great test.

I started by presoaking the panels and letting it sit for a minute as I applied solution to other panels as well. I usually do a vehicle in quarters or half depending on size.

After a quick wipe with a MF towel this is what was left. The solution felt slick and I think it left something behind as the surface seemed different.

After buffing it dry the surface was clean and slick. I didn't notice any marring or spotting issues.

Overall I am impressed. If this comes out and the price is right per gallon of wash solution it could have a good following. My current all around winner that is available now is UWWP.

I also put together a short video demonstrating and talking about the Proto v17 Rinse-Less Wash.

Great review Troy. My conclusions were right on with yours. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a new Wolfgang Rinseless in the works :)

Id be intrigued by a WG rinseless. Knowing WG products- as much as i love them- its going to be stupidly expensive, though.

Thanks guys.

The one reason I was guessing Wolfgang was that I noticed the header on the shipping sticker said "Wolfgang" even though it was shipped from AG.
