Introduction:

Don't you hate it when your exhaust tips are black from all the soot produced by your engine? What makes it worse is when you see this on a properly detailed vehicle. Even if the exhaust tips is only a small object relative to the entire car, it becomes an eyesore when it's dirty.

Low and behold Pinnacle's new exhaust cleaner and brightener. A product that cleans your exhaust tips and shines them really well. This review is long overdue but my car isn't driven everyday and I have always cleaned up my exhaust tips after every wash. So I had to let some exhaust soot build up for this review. I asked a co-worker to let me clean his C7 Vette exhaust tips but no bueno...

The Review:

Here's a picture of the product description and instructions:

The product description intrigued me a lot. A product that polishes the exhaust tips to a mirror finish and leaves a protective coating to make future cleaning easier?! Sign me up please!

Here are before pictures of my exhaust tips:

As you can see, the tips are pretty black and well coated with soot. Just imagine seeing that from a clean and shiny vehicle. It just makes the detail incomplete like something's missing.

When you remove the lid of the product, you are greeted with a very pleasant smell. It's not overpowering at all. I can't exactly pinpoint the smell but it's very good. I would consider the product on the thick side. It has body to it and it doesn't drip at all.

Here I am picking up the cleaner using the Lake Country exhaust polishing sponge. As you can see, the product stays put.

Apply the product on your dirty exhaust tips and agitate it gently using the Lake Country exhaust sponge like so:

As I'm rubbing the sponge/product against the exhaust tips, you can see how it's cleaning the surface after every stroke. Little by little, you will see some shine emerge. Here's the sponge after cleaning one exhaust tip:

As you can see, the exhaust tips turned out pretty shiny! In fact, the finish looks like a mirror!

Overall, this product works well and exactly as advertised. You can't argue with the results it produced. The product is also a joy to work with because it has a pleasant smell and good consistency. Removal of the product is a breeze too. The only con I can see with this product is the price.

Thanks a lot marc, now my wishlist just grew by one more product. keep the wallet in the pocket...remain calm...

On a serious note, great review. Can you tell me if those exhaust cleaning sponges are similar to the sponge that comes with P21s polishing soap?

Looks good. 5oz doesnt seem like much product for 25 bucks. How much product did it take to get those results? Do you think it will take less product next time? How many applications do you think you might get out of the bottle? Thanks.

Fortunately I have S100 total cycle finish restorer, which is probably similar (any thoughts? have you used both?). I'll keep to keep my wallet in my pocket for a least a little longer.

Great review. Pinnacle Exhaust Cleaner and Brightner does do a nice job even on neglected exhausts. I find the consistency to be more creamy than P21S soap.

My jar of P21S soap should be here today cant wait to try that on my brothers quad side exhaust tips they take a beating they are in front the rear wheels. Also we have a ton chrome and aluminum and stainless steel on our rubbish trucks so plenty opportunity's to see how it does on new to state of disrepair quality metal.

cleaning the inside of your exhaust tips... now that's hardcore and I like it ! :)

Thank you! Can't beat clean exhaust tips!

Thank you.

Know what I need now

You're welcome Ronkh! :)

You're very welcome. I'm glad you liked the review - thanks so much!

I haven't tried the P21S polishing soap nor the S100 restorer so unfortunately, I can't comment on similarities.

The picture I took with the product on the yellow sponge is how much product I used to clean the right exhaust tip. I used less than that on the left exhaust tip. Honestly, I think you could get away with half in my case but I think it will really depend on how soiled your tips are and how long they've been baked there.

Nice review. This is a great product. The protective coating it leaves behind is pretty decent as well.

Thanks a lot The Guz! Appreciate it.

Thank you so much, Pat!!!

Would you say that this Pinnacle works better or more effectively than the P21S polishing soap?

They seemed to work about the same but the Pinnacle seemed that it left some type of protection behind.

Marc, good write up. Thanks. Looks like a nice product.

Do you rinse off the residue or polish it off with a dry MF?? I can't read the label on the container.

The thing I really like about the P21S equivalent is you simply rinse it away. There's no fussy clean up or secondary polishing. That has a huge appeal factor to me. In fact, I do the exhaust tips on all vehicles at every wash now. It's such low effort and big impact keeping those tips looking new.

The P21S product also leaves behind some sort of protection. Tips bead like crazy and subsequent cleanings seem to yield a cleaner and cleaner surface.

Thanks for pointing out those LC pads...I've been searching for those !!!

Thank you so much Tom!

I buffed off the residue with a dry MF towel.

I didn't know P21s polishing soap can be rinsed away. That's pretty cool.

What I do to wash the exhaust tips is use a sponge and the left over car soap after every wash.

Marc, thanks.

Yeah, if it wasn't for the ability to rinse away the P21S residue, I can assure you I would not be using it weekly.

I used to clean/polish the tips a couple times per year, that was the extent of what I was willing to do in my pre-P21S days. I thought the jar was a lifetime supply...it's almost empty!

I ordered those sponges! Excited to see them. The sponge included with the P21S disintegrated already - - possibly from excess use ;)

Looks great, thanks for the review. I've been looking for something to replace my almost finished Never Dull (I also polish my exhaust tips every wash).

Love the carbon fiber, what car is that?!
