Price: $7.99 (16 oz.)

Manufacturer's Claim: "With our Car Wash, the first thing you'll notice is how slippery it acts between your wash mitt and the paint. This is an important characteristic of our Car Wash and contributes to its ability to lift away contaminants while protecting the finish during your washing therapy. Many of the mild scratching you see in your finish is from aggressive washing. The dirt acts like sand paper, scratching the finish while you're rubbing the surface of your vehicle. Be gentle while washing, and frequently rinse out your mitt or brush during the cleaning process. Car Wash is gentle on your wax, yet removes more dirt and road grime than any car wash I've tested. Safe for all paints. We've added a unique measuring scale right on the label and an easy pour spout to reduce waste."

Usage: I experimented with a few different ratios and settled on roughly 1 oz. per 1.5 gallons of water, and all testing was done in conjunction with a Eurow Sheepskin mitt.

Overall Thoughts and Notes: This is a very nice and versatile soap. It ranks in the top 2 of my favorite soaps. The level of cleaning ability can be tailored to the specific application. It provides a great deal of lubrication, rinses well, and leaves a slightly "enhanced" appearance when done washing. It has very nice foaming action and a pleasant scent. The bottle pours well and the measurements on the side are a fantastic addition.

Complaints: This soap can be a little tough on the wax/sealant if mixed too strong.

Availability: Griot's Garage 1-800-345-5789 - Car Care for the Perfectionist and various Griot's distributors.

I couldn't agree more. This is a fantastic product and a personal favorite...that's saying a lot for a fine car shampoo aficionado! :spot

I typically run it at 1 tbsp per 2 gallons of luke warm water.

Hm...that's about a half ounce per 2 gallons, which is twice the dilution (half the soap) as Griot's recommendation...I'm always interested how people adjust; AL-53 dilutes the Duragloss wash about twice the recommended as well, and these are two shampoos that get very good reviews. I personally always try to use the mfr's recommendation, but that's just because it hurts my head less to not have to evaluate alternate dilutions :o

Setec, I have a baseline and work from there. I'd prefer not to use any shampoo at all, but find it necessary in some cases. I start with 1 tbsp per two gallons and decide if it's too weak or too strong for me. In some cases, a product like Duragloss 901 is still quite strong at that level. OTOH, I see many using the shampoo at the mfr-recommended levels and higher. I suspect it leads to shorter wax life. Some of the dilution ratios are absurd, IMO. "2 ozs per gallon of water", etc. It's just way too much soap.

Just my $0.03 :)

Or you could get the Detailer's Pride foam gun wash, which if you work out the label directions, recommends 1 oz/gal for bucket use, or 6 oz per gallon for the foam gun...you betcha you get foam at that ratio! (no, I used 1 oz/gal in my gun). I guess maybe I need to dial back what I use, perhaps I won't get streaking with GC at half the recommended. I don't have enough experience yet with the Griot's or DG to draw a conclusion.

Anyway, sorry to go OT...I only used the Griot's once IIRC, I have too many washes :(.

Setec..when I talked to the guys at DG..they said the ratio on the bottle is meant for people who wash once a month and do not really take care of the paint like we do....that ratio was said to clean some dirty cars...

I told them I keep the paint clean when I can (winter is a exception) and they said using 1 ounce to 2 gallons was fine....and it still seems very slick and a strong cleaner....

when I use the Groits I use 1 oz to 2 gallons...and seems the same as DG..slick and strong..

the DG has the edge on groits for the after shine and clean look..they say it is PH neutral with no harsh alkali or acid type detergents..so do not know whats in it....

I like both..the DG and the Groits..but when the Groits runs out..I will wash with the DG..for half the price....
