Requesting feedback from the Pro's

Hello, new to the forum, but from what I've seen, it's a very valuable resource.

The following is my regime, please comment;

Initial:

wash with Dawn 1x per year

Klasse AIO the entire vehicle

2 coats of SG over two days

after that, 1 coat SG/week for 2 or 3 weeks

then once every ~ 6 weeks, until cycle is repeated

I rinse the car regularly in the winter, and wash weekly

My wash method is a 2 or 3 caps of simple green in 4 gals warm water, with additonal water being added as required, using a good wool mitt. I do one section, roof, hood, etc., then rinse. I dry with well worn cotton towels, one to sop most of the water, the other to dry. Everything in lines, not circles.

Is the simple green Ok as long as very diluted, and rinsed quickly?

Any other feedback?

I typically keep my cars ~5 years, they are kept outside, and always look good to me at the end. currrent car BMW '01 M3, TiAg

I take similar care of the interior, etc. I power wash the chassis on a lift 2x year, and wash the engine 3 x year.

Thanks

I'd say skip the dawn and just use the AIO as it will remove old wax buildup etc. If you need a stronger polish for swirls etc, I would add one in as well. Add a claybar in the mix and your all set, everything else looks pretty good...

I'd stay away from ever using Simple Green as a car wash no matter how small the dilution. I highly, highly recommend a real car wash: dozens upon dozens of them out there both locally and online.

The sheepskin/wool mitt sounds good, make sure its ultra soft. I'd eliminate the cotton towels entirely and invest in the highest quality waffle weave mfs. Well worth preventing the aggrevation of micromarring.

The most extreme, concours method of wasshing I've ever encountered is Accumulator's extreme washing technqiue. It's in the hall of fame here. The foam gun mentioned in it is not a bad toy to have either :bigups

He he, I wipe down my engine with either a mf or a swiffer duster to get in all the crevices after every 50-100 miles or so :D :o

At a glance, the other car care practices look good.

Enjoy

Gentlemen,

Thank you,

I'll try something other than simple green, but it cleans so well and left 0 residue. Didn't seem to affect the Klasse SG.

Drying is always the worst part;

leave blowers?

squeegee?

I'll try the MF towels. I do notice a little fine marring. Seems to be in the SG, because when I strip it down, it's gone.
