Replacement for Aero 303

DETAILKING

It came in my souveran kit. I have not used it yet, and before I do, I am looking for opinions. I currently use 303 and zaino Z16 on my trim. How is this product different? What do you use it on? Is it greasy? shiny or matt, and how about durability?

Thanks...........

It's my fave protectant, and this is from someone who's been using E1 Concours for 10+ years.

Gloss - Fairly high. Not like the silicone 'Funky Shine', but higher than Vinylex or Concours. I've never used Z16 or 303 so I can't compare.

Greasyness - Nope. It's water-based so not slimey. But it will sling like anything else if applied too heavily.

Durability - Comparable to other water-based products, maybe a little worse. Concours is better for durability.

Usage - Only on tires for me, sometimes on exterior black plastic trim. I never, ever use a protectant on the interior.

LMK if you decide not to use it. I'm almost out.

I've used it only on tires and find that once absorbed, the finish is matte and not glossy. It's so thick I can't imagine how it could fling off the tires. Anyway I applied it with one of those tire swiper sponges and didn't need to go back with a cloth to buff out. I like it but it may not be the most cost effective product for tires.

I really don't like any amount of gloss in the interior, especially the dash board. Not only do I not care for the looks but the added glare is not enjoyable.

The problem with protecting one portion of the interior is that the unprotected portions stand out. So I just keep the stuff outta the interior and I'm happy. Only watered down Simple Green, a damp towel, and occassional spot cleaning are all I ever need.

I use it on the dashboard. It is much less shiny than any of the others....almost matte finish. I use it only on the interior, as I prefer a shinier finish on the tires...Vinylex. I use Z16 on black trim, for durability. I've got them all so I just spread them around...

Bret, it really isn't a good idea at all to not put a protectant on your dash and other interior parts. Protectants are made for a reason and its primary one is not to give an oily shine. Its primary function is to protect your dash from fading over time and or cracking under the UV rays and other possible agents. One of the most popular products, and my favorite for the interior, is 303 Aerospace Protectant. It gives your interior trim a real nice satin shine. It is not greassy or oily at all. It's the best. As for Simple Green, this product has been beaten to death and is not a favorite of the board. It can actually do much more harm than good, diluted or not. I would hope that you stay away from it in the future, especially for your interior. Just my .02. Best of luck and I truly hope you give 303 a try. You won't be disappointed. Laters

I love this stuff I have been using it for about 2 years on my interior and love it! Plus it smells great

I only use Simple Green when needed; if there are noticeable nasty spots on the interior, or for an area that needs some "butt-kickin". I do not use it on a regular basis. I'll always try something a bit more mild but, admittedly, I am not one to dilly-dally with multiple applications of several products. I want things clean and good-to-go after one app so I am willing to take a small risk with more aggressive products. That's just me:)

While I'm also one of those folks who keeps their cars only a few years, I will try 303 soon and compare it to Vinylex which has been my interior protectant of choice..... if I ever used an interior protectant;)

Bret-

We're both looking for the same performance out of our interior products. I used to dislike using anything on the vinyl except some mild soap and water.

Then, a friend recommended Vinylex. Since I had used Lexol, I tried it - and liked it quite a bit, except for the sheen left on the material, despite all the buffing I tried, couldn't get it out.

303 was something I actually had for my boat, didn't even think of using on the car (and honestly, wasn't that impressed on the boat - then again, that was severely weathered vinyl, exposed to all the worst elements all the time).

In the car - it is EXCELLENT. After application, it's like you never put anything on! Matte finish, almost allergic to dust! Like brand new vinyl.

I say go for some - considering you can pick it up locally, and it's relatively cheap (8 oz at least) it's worth a shot.

Simple Green is still Simple Green. I still wouldn't use it on my dash even once every month or two. But to each his own. As for the 303, give it a try. You are going to love the results. It's great at not picking up dust and leaves no shiny look or feel to the surface at all. It just gives it a richer slightly more vibrant color than simple washing. Laters

I like this stuff a lot. However I only use it on the interior. Like Bretfraz I previously did not like to use protectants on the interior. All of them, even 303, left the dash too shiny and slippery for my taste (303 was previously the least bad in this regard).

Then I tried the Pinnacle, after buying it at a store in Philly, and was very impressed. Very little gloss and almost no slipperiness. The only thing I don't like is the smell. Very strong Banana-type smell. I don't like artificial smells. Other than that though, the stuff is excellent.

JS....I think they actually used bananna oil to make it. So....not really artificial.... I agree thought that it is the most matte finish of all the vinyl protectants available. It's all I use on the dash.

Hey guys....

Need some advise.... really do like Aerospace 303, and will continue to use it on exterior. However I really don't like the way it smells. For those that have used it ... you know what i Mean. So looking for a good overall interior protectant that is comparable to 303... thanks for any recommendations.

Weird, I'm the exact opposite. I hate Megs #40 for interiors because I think it has a terrible smell to it, but I love to use 303 Aerospace on interiors. I really only use Meg's #40 as a tire shine.

years ago when 303 was a good recommendation by many, i bought a bottle and tried it. i didn't care for it and i either gave it away or trashed it. i prefer #40 (it's not high gloss and greasy) and i don't use it as a tire dressing (there are better options) and prefer it on the interior instead. just goes to show you how everyone has different experiences with products...

In addition to 303 I have a spray bottle of 1Z Cockpit Premium. I love the 1Z stuff and the fragrance is much different than 303.

303 doesn't have a wonderful smell but it's not too bad for me, for the interior though, I like 1Z Cockpit Premium. It's got a GREAT clean smell and it's convenient to use. I keep a small spray bottle and towel for emergencies in the glove box. It's matte finish more so than 303 also.
