The OEM paint is scratch shield. I made some small scrapes / scratches around the edge of the rear bumper near the rear tire.
A Nissan dealer said they can do either of the two:
replace the entire bumper with the factory scratch shield paint on it
or
repaint that affected area and cover the entire bumper with clear coat paint
As you can see, either option seems overkill for the scrapes. Is this dealer bullshXting me? One of the other auto repair centers gave me a reasonable quote and said he could repaint the affected area and cover it with clear coat spread out by a palm's length (so, the repaint / clear coat will be kept around the affected area).
Is scratch shield so special that you cannot do the regular local repaint? My car is black.
