Removing wax for weekend detail

Hey guys, I need to ask how is the best way to remove wax ? I am going to clay the car but don't know if it will remove the wax. Should I just use dawn then wash it again with nxt wash ? Thanks for any advice
 
Don't use Dawn. If you won't be polishing then you can try P21S Paintwork Cleansing Lotion, Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion or perhaps AIO.
 
Clay is not very effective as an LSP remover. IMO, Dawn is for dishes. I'd use a product intended for cleaning paint or rely on a cleaner/polish. If you use something like MPPC (a chemical cleaner) or #80 (a diminishing abrasive polish) they will remove the previous LSP.
 
Well I am planning on using megs color x then nxt wax. Will the color x remove the wax ? I want to give it 2 layers of color x then 2 of nxt wax.
 
ColorX is a one-step and will remove your prior LSP.



Not sure how well NXT will do over it though. Let us know.
 
Wouldn't the first application of the swirl remover do more of removing your last coat of wax rather then working on your clearcoat, leaving you to go over it again? That's what I am thinking, and it seems like wasted product to me.



Also, if you are going to use something like Dawn to wash the car, wouldn't hot water be best to use? I seem to remember a discussion, and it being said that hot water is 'harsher' on wax, speeding up reactions between wax/paint.



Seems like a hot Dawn wash would do a number on the wax, maybe even through in some Simple Green, you would have one nasty car wash...
