Removing swirls from wood trim?

Does anyone recommend products and procedures to remove light swirling from wood trim? I have a few trim pieces from a Mercedes that I'd like to buff out the swirls before I sell them.

I think interior wood trim is clear coated isn't it? Would those wood scratch removers work?

I use mild (regular) polishes on interior wood quite often, it works well for me. Just be careful that you don't get too aggressive about it. The clear is usually sorta soft and sometimes it's very thin.

You might start with something barely abrasive like VM or AIO and work up from there. I like 1z Metallic Polish for this, and I've gone as aggressive as the old 3M PI-III MG 05937. I'd rather not get more aggressive than that, and I'm always prepared to just live with the marring.

Mercedes apply what looks like enamel coating on the wood, and its a fairly thick and durable finish, but best to be as mild as possible.

haha, i was just going to start a similar thread. The swirls in the trim on my dads 01 C240 are horrible, and Plastx did nothing to help.

Will OC or OP applied by hand do anything?
