removing swirls and light scratches by hand

I am trying to remove light scratches and swirls. What product would you guys recomen if I want to do it by hand? Or is this an unrealistic wish?

Speaking as a somewhat novice DIY guy - the answer is yes and no. I went through this when I first got into detailing. You can remove some pain imperfections but it takes A LOT of elbow grease and you can't get the same results on deeper imperfections now matter how hard you try (literally).

Long answer short - if its minimal finish damage on a small area I'd say go for it, more than that and I'd say learn from my (and others I'm sure) experience and borrow or buy a DA to make it A LOT Easier on yourself.

You can always try a spot application of SwirlX or other similar product and see how well it works. Won't be out too much money.

I don't understand why you want to do it by hand if you have a PC

with that said go to Walmart and grab some Meg's Ultimate Compound & Swirls X

they will work well by hand...... and then with the PC when you see how much work it is by hand

Generally speaking, abrasion is abrasion no matter what does the rubbing (i.e, your hand or a machine). I've removed nasty fingernail scratches from behind door handles by hand, even on very hard clear. Just takes time and effort (sometimes a whole lot of both ;) ).

As mentioned, the recently introduced products from Meguiar's make this a whole lot easier than it was in the past. But I'd sure use that PC of yours for any areas you don do with it and save the by-hand work for the out-of-the-way spots that *have* to be done that way.

megs scratchX is ok, only good for very very light scratches/swirls thou...

but i guess that means its not taking of much paint/clear which isn't a bad thing

i tried the ultimate compound then swirl x by hand the other day, only did two hits of each and it didn't do wonders but it did enough...made it glossier too...

I have tried this in the past before I got the G110, and have always came away disappointed. In my opinion, it was too much work for not enough benefit.

But best of luck. And welcome

I just tied scratch X & megs UC. The UC blew me away how well it worked smoothing out the finish & removing fine scratches from my Honda ridgeline.
