Removing Ice on the Windshield

We don't get this much here in CA, but wanted to ask how some of you in areas that do this alot what your method is?

I have a ice scraper that seems to work OK...but read about mixing water and vinegar that works pretty well.

Thanks

It's been a while..... Let me see if I remember.........

I think if the car was made somewhere after 1925, it should have something called a "Defroster"

Start the car (car must be running) turn on the hvac system, then turn on the "defroster".
Let the "defroster" do it's thing (sometimes up to about 20-30 min) and I believe the windshield should be pretty clear of ice.

Of course your mileage may vary.

:)

I really like this - 1Z Einszett De-Icer Spray

Where I used to live in WA., you will use something like this daily if your vehicle is parked outside... Sometimes at night, you might need something to spray into door locks so the key can get into them, and they have frozen over...

While I am lucky enough not to have to deal with this phenomenon doesn't occur in Florida, I can remember the days of using an ice scrapper in Chicago. I would imagine that I scratched a few windshields in my day.

I use a regular ice scraper w/ the broom on one end. I am just careful to not push to hard or jam it into anything.
