Removing Finish Kare 425 from rubber

I gave my boss some FK1 425 to use on his Ford GT and he got some on the rubber gasket under the rear deck. I want to give him some good advice on getting it off since the car's kind of expensive and he seems rather fond of it.:hmph:

I've never had FK 425 stain/leave residue/cause problems on rubber  That doesn't make any sense to me...are you *sure* that's the product that caused the problem? If I'd just walked up and seen that residue, I might've even used FK 425 (on a very plush MF) to remove it!

OK, gotcha. Heh heh, sometimes you can't say certain things no matter how tempting it might be, huh?

I'd try going over the area again with the 425 and a plush MF anyhow. Could be that it somehow effected a solvent action on some excess product and it then migrated up to where it's visible. I'm very confident that it won't make the problem "worse" at least not to a functional degree (if you have to do something to get it off a little more 425 won't change anything).

OR....clean it off by doing the same thing with some Meguiar's #34/Final Inspection. The challenge will be to work on the rubber without messing up any of the surrounding area.

Heh heh, maybe you oughta contact FinishKare. They're always helpful when I talk with them and they might have an idea (besides just saying "our 425 doesn't do that" ;) ).

it may have been wax residue and the 425 highlighted it or reacted with it...but I never had it stain any rubber..I used it on door rubbers a lot..try using a detail brush in the groove to see if it loosens it..that's weird...never heard any one say it stained rubber...
