Remember 9/11?

Hey folks,

This Saturday should have a little bit more meaning to us than just a typical weekend day off (for some of us). I really cannot believe that it has been 3 years since that tragic day. While I am glad to see that we have progressed greatly since that day, I do miss all the patriotic spirit that overflowed America in the months after.

By all means, I do not want this to be a political debate about whether or not we should fighting in Iraq or worrying more about ourselves. Simply put Freedom Don't Come Free!

My Grandfather is a retired firefighter of 25+ years in Los Angeles. He taught me when I was younger to wave to every service person when we were driving, or say "hello" them when we encountered them. I always felt like a dork until 9/11/01. Now that I have grown up and seen what I've seen, I wave to all of them, even when I'm on the motorcycle. "What does the person behind me think when I do that"? You know, WHO CARES. The meaning behind it goes deeper than the simple gesture.

After the 2001 incident, I wanted to find a way I could give back to my fellow service men, who work so hard, and deserve so much more. The answer was staring me in the face; offer your detailing services to them. So when 9/11 comes around, I like to call up my local station and say, "I'd sure like to help y'all clean up those fancy trucks of yours." I love the reaction every time, and it's been nice getting to see familiar faces.

With 9/11 being on a Saturday this year, I would encourage all you professionals and non-professionals to get out there and lend a hand. After all, this Saturday isn't their day off. Not only will you feel good about what you will do, the gratitude they express is priceless.

With a new career in sight for myself, I would like to start an official organization called "9/11 Detail Day". It would be nice to have a website put together and potential sponsors (for product and such) and have this put on the national level someday. That is just one of my projects I'd like to see done before my short time on this Earth is done.

I encourage each and every one of you to participate this Saturday. Not only could you do it, but you could encourage your children to participate and teach them that giving back to the community makes the world a better place. If detailing isn't your forte', it could just be a simple pastry you bring to the station.

Give it a thought, and NEVER FORGET!

Nick,
A great thought...It's good to give back :bigups
Shame it took a tragedy to get people to realize the risks that these people take every day

Nick.... That a great idea!!!!! :bigups It would kinda be our way of saying Thanks for all the service people do for us!

Nick, that's a very commendable gesture, hope everything goes well , I don't think you'll have difficulty getting sponsorships :bigups

Nick,

Very thoughtful and I agree 100%. I am booked up tomorrow but I am thinking of what I can get down to them. Probably some breakfast or something :)

Good Idea.

When I go to restaurants and see men and women in the armed forces I always feel compelled to buy their meal or at least a dessert. Hadn't done it yet. Just feels like a nice thing to do. Of course it would be an anonymous gesture. Maybe one day I'll try it. Maybe even tomorrow.

Oddly, I was detailing a car that day, listening to Howard Stern who did a very good job commentating.

All I have to say guys is that it was a great pleasure helping out today!! I used a variety of products on the truck, and they were definitely impressed. "Where do I buy that stuff?"

I simply wrote on the back of my card, "Most can be purchased at www.premiumautocare.com"

I might make it a pact to do this sometime during the year as well. It doesn't necessarily have to be September 11th to help out our servicemen and women!

Never forget!
