I recently detailed a car with no clearcoat the car turned out real well....however i was not able to get all the swirls out for some reason, in my mind i assumed without the clearcoat the swirls would come out easier i guess i was wrong?
i used rubbing compound (hood), pooorboys 2.5, pinnacle souveran wax
i have never had a problem with getting rid of swirls.....but this car got me
the car was a 91 miata, heres a pic b & a of the hood, maybe it was because the paint was old i dont know?
sorry the pictures are before and afters.........they dont really show the swirls to well

How many times did you go around the Miata with SSR 2.5?
What type of pad did you use with SSR 2.5?
Was the car oxidated when you began? If so, what did you use do remove the oxidation?
Did you use a PC, rotary or a combo of both?
What type of rubbing compound did you use?
What type of swirls were you unable to remove?

By the way the Miata looks good.

Eric

3m rubbing compound
......hood rotory
2.5 with buffer, with fairly moderate cutting pad on setting 5, like twice, whole car
pinnacle souvern, and liquid glass to seal it ....setting 3, then buffed off with 2

the car was definately highly reflective, glossy, and showed depth.... but there were just small scratches and blemishes, no oxidation or very little......over half the car fairly repainted, it appeared the car was poorly prepped before the repaint .......the customer was thrilled though, so iam cool with it

I agree with Eric!! From the pictures the vehicle looks very shiny.

Would you consider using SSR1 after the SSR2.5? One could use a polishing pad and PC on five to clean up the surface from such an abrassive polish as SSR2.5

You may have just mentioned the problem, repainted.
Unfortunately, it is not at all uncommon for some repaint jobs to have flaws of some sort visible due to less than perfect surface prep. Many times you can see the sanding marks even after the finish coat has been laid down.
What you are seeing might very well be under the finish coat and polishing won't remove them.
