Red RX7 - Teaching a friend to polish

The car had heavy oxidization that we removed mostly by hand a few days ago, but the car still looked like crap. Today, I taught him a lot of theory, and showed him how to use the PC to polish paint!

Hood was done with SSR2.5 on a white LC VC pad via PC, and followed up with Megs #9

Fender was done with Megs #83 on a white LC VC pad via PC and followed up with Megs #9 as well. Both had S100 on top.

Pretty good results so far!

Quite an improvement, show us the whole car when you're done!

You say you're in Canada...shouldn't there be snow in your last photo?

The After pics look great! Too bad I can't say the same for the quality of the paint job though. Are those bubbles what is referred to as "solvent pop"?

5 inch backing plate on my rotary I think.

I dunno if that was a joke, but no, we only get snow here a few days outta the year.

I'm not sure what the bubbles are but they're all around the paint.

Fish eyes, solvent pop, or whatever you want to call them are a result of someone not prepping the surface properly prior to painting or something happening (such as a silicone getting on wet paint) during the curing process. Basically, the car was repainted and someone didn't take their time to ensure a quality job.

Great job though!

Well that looks waaaay better than the hood and fender. Definitely looks like what Wolf-strong said. Repainted and done bad. The rest of the car, if its like the door(not repainted), is going to look great when done.
