Bret and I worked together on this beauty but Bret did more work and handled the polishing. Process was a Z-7 wash, the Menzerna polishes, Z-7 wash, Z-5 Pro X 3 (ZFX), then a Z-8. We used Z-16 on the wheels and cleaned the interior plastic with 1Z Plastik Reiniger (great stuff!) followed by Cockpit Premium.

In process pictures (after polishing):

Final results:

As you can see the Menzerna polishes really created a smooth surface to apply the Zaino Z-5 Pro on. The pics don't do the depth of the gloss justice.

Well done guys. Gotta love Torch Red! The C5's really are great looking cars, I dont think that they will look "dated" for a long time coming.

Wish I could remember the source for that.

Gotta love Torch Red Vettes. I love mine!!! :getdown

Great job guys. Who stated a sealant can not mimic a carnuaba and still have durability. :nixweiss

Hi Bret. :wavey. I wish Bret would start posting again here at Autopia.

Ditto!

Great work.

Thanks everyone. We used a PC and the PO805RD (sic?) Menzerna polish. Megs pads. I think we used some Mothers wheel polish on the wheels. We did this a few weeks ago so it's not fresh in my mind. :)

Wonderful work.

I was trying to use up my IP & FP and polished my car with them. Paint looked out of this world, but the dusting I really hate. Towards the end I figured out how to almost eliminate it but Optimum has spoiled me.

Topped it with Zymol;s carbon.

Does it dust for you?

Found it!

“Why are we even having this discussion? All Corvettes are red. The rest are mistakes. Attributed to John Heinricy, the leader of Corvette development group of test drivers at a meeting on paint quality and choices of color for the new C5 Corvette. The quote is taken from a fantastic book called ALL CORVETTES ARE RED by James Schefter.

Kinda funny considering that back in '90-91 I was a test driver for GM and had a few turns driving prototype 'Vettes. I still remember one night in particular when I was cruising around the high-speed track at 100 mph at midnight with Bad to the Bone at full blast on the Bose stereo and thinking, "I'm actually getting paid for this!"
