Recommendation for touchup paint removal / polishing on porsche bumper.

Working on a 2005 Porsche Carerra basalt black bumper. It has some kind of scratch that was filled with flat black paint, then touched up with metallic paint. It's the size of a thumbprint but annoying. Looks like a scratch that has been touched up by a paintbrush.



What is the best way to handle this?

Removing the existing touchup can be done a few ways...clay and/or polishes and paint cleaners sometimes work. Or solvents; mineral spirits might work and some people even use lacquer thinner :nervous:



I'd use Langka blob eliminator. That's how I removed the last few previous-owner-touchups that I wanted to redo and it worked so well that it's now my first choice for this.

I second the Langka Blob Eliminator for this purpose. While I generally prefer to do a conventional wet-sand on a touch-up I'd reach for the Langka to safely remove a previous blob.

Go with the Langka System - but first take down the higher/lifted edges very, VERY carefully, before filling the gouge. I've had a few P-Cars and I definitely advise a clear coat as the last 2 layers over the Basalt Black. There's no way you get Basalt Black shine like the rest of the paint without that final clear coat.

This is one process you should never rush! Before applying any final clear-coat you should wait at least 12 hours for it to last and for the metallic to have that final 'set' to sparkle after the clear goes on - this is the only step I do differently than the Langka site suggests. Other than that personal advice, spend some time reviewing the Langka site as they've got a lot of great step-by-step advice.
