Recomendations for long lasting tire dressing?

I drive both of my cars a lot. Chicago is not so nice to tires either.

For one of my cars the manufacturer even tells you in the owners manual to not use anything that contains silicone. So I am looking for a recommendation. Anything that would hold up a bit longer? I used to use Mothers stuff, but than I figured out I have layer some serious silicone onto a set of tires.

Suggestions?

Zaino Z16 is a great tire dressing that lasts a long time for me, here in West Texas. (water based)

Although I'm not a chemist..........And I won't even attempt to get into the great silicone debate..........I have found plenty of info regarding "good silicone vs bad silicone" here in the land of Autopia. There are respected members 'round these parts that really know their stuff so I'd rather let them chime in.

That being said, I've been using CG's New Look Trim Gel & CG's Extreme Tire Shine since the day they came out & have experienced no ill effects at all from using them. (silicone baded) The New Look Trim Gel gives me solid durability & performs well.

As for the products I use & recommend the most: (subjective, ofcourse)

Z16, CG New Look Trim Gel, CG Extreme Tire Shine, Armor All, WG Black Diamond, Mothers Reflections Tire Care, Mothers FX Tire.........

As a general rule, the clear dressings are oil based, which it sounds like you are trying to avoid, and the milky colored ones are water based, which is what you want. I use Optimum Tire Shine and Poorboy's Bold n' Bright.

This is a great thread. I am also in the market for a nice shiny tire dressing that I can buy in bulk. I have been using Eagle One Tire and like a spray especially for large truck tires. I have several gels already that fit the bill.

I might be giving Megs All Season Dressing a try considering that its very reasonable in bulk.

I manage to buy Eagle One Concours by the jug at Street Rod Shows and really like it.

I also like Poorboy's Bold n Brite.

Currently I'm doing a test to review several dressings and hopefully determine what I'll use this year. Probably will end up with one of the above two because of appearance but there will be others that last longer.

Porsche tires are real expensive and my car will see some track use, so I do not want to weaken them for the sake of the looks. From what I heard is that silicone based stuff actually dries out Michelin PS2 sidewalls. There is something used in that rubber to combat UV and other ill effects, so silicone just does not get along with those compounds. PS2s have very soft sidewall, so I don't want to take any chances with silicone.

Just tried Z-16. Great shine and durability. Another is McGuiar's Hot Shine Spray. You just spray and walk away.

I like PB's Bold 'n Bright a lot, gives me the look I want most of the time. I haven't tried the 4* Gel, been hearing some good things about it, and may give that a try soon.

I'm also a bit skeptical of the 'weeks and weeks' claims -- maybe it's just the way my eyes get used to seeing the same dressing, but *I* notice a difference after a rainfall. I'm always one to try new stuff though :)

I also like PB's BnB a lot. While some of the shine has deteriorated over the past week and a half since I applied it, the tires still look dark and very clean. Thumbs up. Also, I applied about 2 coats and didn't buff the last one off. Had I only done with and buffed it, there wouldn't have been much shine at all. This stuff is very controllable, another bonus.
