reccomend me a leaf blower

I've searched the forums and most threads either debate the use of a leaf blower or discuss the usage when drying the car.

I was at Sears tonite and made up my mind to get one to cut down on wiping down the panels. I wash my car in the garage so I'm not to concerned about stirring up dust, the floor will be wet.

Do you need a super duper one that moves alot of air or will ne old one due?

ne help or sugguestions would be appreciated

I recently bought a 205 mph gas one from Home depot, 99 bucks :)

I am kinda torn between the leaf blower. It does dry wthout touching, but it is more work then a WW towel.

Also, it sometimes, usually actually, dries small beads of water, and creates spots. Then i am a nervous wreck QD it after.

I suppose if it is cooler out, i wont get many spots from pre mature dryng though, it is getting warm here in Florida.

Leaf blower is most effectively used only to get the water from nooks and cranies, not getting the whole car dry. I still use a towel to wipe off whatever needs to be dried off.

Blower is also very good when used on tires and wheels. No need to waste towels drying those up. They also dry faster so tire dressing can be applied sooner.

do you have a wet/dry vac?

if not then i would get one like the ridgid wd4050

vac and a blower

Yeah I have a Craftsman wet/dry vac and really like it. Probelm is I only have a one car garage and it's tight in there.

The vacum hose mars the finish so I have to keep it away from the car when using it. I did try using it though for blowing off the car. Was alright but took a long time. Was hoping a leaf blower would speed things up a bit.

Don't use the blower of a vac you also vacuum with. Too much risk of any loose/dislodged debris in it blowing out on the paint.

I have a mini blower and a slower ( not 150 mph+)powered dedicated leaf blower for the car. I took a look at a few in the store in search of the Weedeater variety compatible with the Air Wand but haven't seen it. I'll hunt for the Craftsman compatible one also next time I venture to Sears. I like what I have currently but always like to see the newest and greatest equipment.

how about this then

not cheap tho

Air Force Blaster

I got a mini handheld one (about the size of a hairdryer) from the Herley Store. It really isnt too powerful when compared to larger ones at 135MPH but it does the job (and then some) that I need it to do. Plus being small (built for bikes) it doesnt move around unwanted dirt/dust and the rubber tip is nice so you dont scratch your paint. Best part -- $40.

Got a very similar one last year on clearance for about $18. Yep, does well, especially for door jams, and seams.

I personally would get the Air Wand before the Blaster.

C that's Y I didn't buy one when I was at the mall eariler tonite, I figured on getting some feedback from the Forums here before putting down my hard earn dollars and as usual you guys are gr8t.

Some of these things I didn't even know where around. I'll have too now look into this Blaster thingy and the Air Wand.

Is it possible to get a car completely dry with any of these?

Decisions decisions.

I do know one thing, I need some cheaper hobbies. Detailing, Autobody and mechanics, Home Electronics and Computers are my passions but there's always something new to get.

I don't mind though, it's fun and great learning experiences.

I would definitely go with the Metro dryer. I have one and it works great. It is really powerful. I usually get most of the water with a microfiber chamois. I then use the dryer to dry the the wheels, tires, and other crevices that the chamois will never touch. It really does not save time, but does a more thorough job of drying the car. You would not believe how much water is hiding in inconspicous places.

Well I did try using the blower port from my Vac to dry the car today, to get an idea of how well an electonic device drys the car.

Some one mentioned in this thread about wet/dry vac's blowing out dirt onto the paint surface, I found that to be true

Those Metro Dryers look like the thing. As a leaf blower might not direct air into the door jambs and other nook and grannies as well.

I've found the price range on these models varies after doing a google on "Metro Dryers".

Seems they are used by dog groomers as well. Those type of suppliers tend to charge less than Auto Detailers.

So a Metro Dryer it is.
