rant: Delta changed my travel plans three times

OK so here's my story. I'm in college now and I decided to go out of state. Since my school is over 1,000 miles away from home, all my traveling is by plane. As of right now I haven't been home in three months, I've missed spending Thanksgiving with my family and my b-day was last week and I missed that too. There have been times when I've been homesick to the point where I had this gloomy feeling for hours on end.

This last week I was so happy as I was finishing each of my finals because as I finished each one, my break seemed realer. Today I was so happy that I was going to finally fly home tomorrow. I was suppose to arrive at 12:45pm. I was so happy that I could attend my favorite church service of the year, the candle light service. Then all of a sudden when I checked my e-mail at 8pm there was a e-mail from Delta telling me that my flight that departed 6:50am from Madison was canceled and that I was rebooked on a 2:45pm flight. That's over 7 hours apart! I'm suppose to be out of my dorm by 12pm tomorrow so I have to go wait for three hours since I will be going there by taxi so I don't want to leave at 12 just in case something happens with the taxi. And then I have to have a three and a half hours layover in Atlanta for my connection.

I know that people around Colorado have it worst, but this is, like the title says, the third time that they've changed my itinerary. In addition I received the e-mail less than 12 hours from my original flight. What if I didn't check my e-mail since I was preparing to pack my computer. They did give me a front seat on the plane and I get to fly first class on the flight from Atlanta though. I guess they thought they could try to redeem themselves.

Sorry for the long post, and thank you to all who read it. Everyone is gone right now and I needed to get it off my chest. I don't think I've ever used so many curse words before as I did when I saw that e-mail. rant off.

Sorry they did that to you, but I hope you have a great holiday with your family and friends!

I figure if the plane leaves and arrives in one piece the rest is the small stuff . Flights are cancelled for low seat seels/ mechanical problems/ crew shortages/weather.

Enjoy the family time

Delta changed our itinerary 3 times for a trip to upstate NY. The times were only a few minutes different but what if they weren't and as you said what if I hadn't had the opportunity to check email. That would be a bummer.

Enjoy your time at home and have a great Holiday!! :2thumbs:

Upstate NY! OOOOH. :)

Yep, my dad lives in Canandaigua. The area is beautiful and I really like making the trip up there in the summer to get away from the heat down here :)

thanks for the responses. i wish i had more choices in airlines, especially southwest but Madison has a small airport and there are only the major, major ones and midwest airlines which is suppose to be the best, but they're usually expensiver and only serve my airport in Florida seasonally.

Flying that close to Christmas won't make any difference. They are ALL at max capacity with everybody in every state wanting to see loved ones. When you stop and think about how many people fly that week, it's just incredible.....

I know delays and flight changes suck but, safety always comes first. Keep that in mind next time you fly......:xyxthumbs
