Rancid smell.....

Any proven tips or suggestions on how to remove the rancid and putrid smell of spoiled watermelon from a vehicles interior. I have an insurance job today and my client say's the vehicles interior smells awful......Driver was eating some watermelon when she was invloved in an accident and the melon flew all over.......now it is a smelly mess!!

Thanks.........

Most of my specialty interior stuff comes from ProRestore products.

Double-O works really good for protein/food odors. I use it in an Electrogen thermal fogger.

If it's moldy then it would probably be a good idea to disinfect with Microban (or other disinfectant) first before deodorizing.

Driver was eating some watermelon when she was involved in an accident

Wow, that's a new one. Who eats watermelon in their car?

So it was a bit more than just watermelon, looks like she was eating a fruit bowl while she was driving....the results were a tossed fruit salad all over the front and rear floor area of an Acura MDX. After the initial inspection, we found the culprit.......Maggots.......looks like from the time the accident occured, then to the tow yard, then to the body shop the tossed salad became spoiled (putrid) which then caused some pesky flies to come around and leave some larvee.....Sick I tell you, the results were a breeding ground for maggots.

So with a combination of the following we had a battle on our hands but we won!.....

1) Simple Solutions Extreme Stain and Odor Removal

Probably why she was involved in an accident. :secret

I second the motion for the Electrogn thermal fogger machine. Use Miocroban and Thermal Fogging solutions (Fire Fog 404) work 90% of the time after you thoroughly detail and machine extract out what you can first. Baking powder can get a bit messy if it gets wet. At least it wasn't a jumbo size fruit smoothie!
