In a Porsche Blue bottle for $4.99 available in Autozone:bounce

After 10 months of disappearence I am so happy to see them back on the shelf.

Will test them and see if it is any different from the old black bottle formula.

Anyone tried the new blue bottle yet??

I still have a 75% full bottle of the old formula if anyone's interested?!?;)

I haven't used it since I've started using Zaino on my wheels.:xyxthumbs

It's good stuff, though.

PM if interested

:wavey

Use it on top of Zaino treated wheel!!!

It will only make the wheel stay cleaner and more easy to wash off brake dust.

Your Zaino layer will last longer as well.

Well, I picked up a bottle of it today. Autozones everywhere are supposed to have them, but the one closest to me didn't have it. So I had to call RainX (actually Blue Coral) to find out where I could get one. They were very helpful, and found some at another location.

My only advise is to allow it to COMPLETELY DRY before driving the car.

That means at least an hour for me. Plan to take another car to dinner after a wash if you do not have enough time to let it dry.

Wow, it takes that long??? I was just assuming it would bond pretty quick. Can you spray it on and wipe off the excess??? This is my only car, and I don't see myself waiting an hour for this stuff to dry everytime I wash my car. Guess I would have to do the rims first, but even then, the rims would get wet from washing the car.

If you spray it on, and just leave it, does the rim have a film on it???

Hmm, I have the older black bottled version, which never disappeared up here BTW, and I've only tried it once so far. It seems to dry reasonably quickly (and smells very solventy) but it seems to have left minor stains on my brushed aluminum center caps. I'd like to try it out again just to see what happens next time.....

The instructions say to spray it onto the cool, dry wheel and then simply let dry before driving.

I always dry the wheels and tires last after the paint, so the only thing I could see myself doing to cut down time-wise is to dry the wheels/tires, spray this on, and then dress the tires. Hopefully by the time I'm done with the tires it'd be dry.

Hmm, the rims that I have on order are brushed aluminum in the center also. So you say that the RainX left stains on it??? How bad was it and did it come off?? Could it have anything to do with the application of it???

Spent a lot of money on my rims that are coming in, and don't want to get a $5 product that will mess them up.

The stains aren't that bad and there are just a few splatter droplet shaped spots (looks slightly darker) on one of my center caps. I don't think the other wheels have this problem now that I think about it.... I don't know how or why this happened though since as I said I only used this product once last year. The wheels have been cleaned several times since then and they're still there so I don't think they're coming out without a mild polish. I've been meaning to try it again but I keep forgetting to do it  and now I'm trying out QDing the wheels. Maybe next wash...

I suggest using the Search and reading up on this stuff. Not that you'd find much info other than people like it though. As far as I know I think I'm the first person who's had a problem. :nixweiss

Yeah, the searches are rather incomplete on this product. Still haven't had a chance to try it on my rims yet, the car is already clean. I have real bad brake dust problems, so when I use it, it should be a real test for the RainX.

I know one thing, it is hot and humid here, so it better dry fast, lol.

I have BMW wheels so I have the same brake dust problem.

Best way to make your life easier is to apply Synthetic wax/polish to the wheel as often as you can and use Rain-X protectant in between on top of the treated wheel.

Zaino works great. Even the cheapo Nu-Funish works fine as long as you can stand the nasty smell and do not rub it into the wheel(just apply it like Zaino).

Well, we know it is the brakes not the wheels, but I know what you are saying. Been thinking about reducing the brake dust from the source with different brake pads, but that is a little farther into the future.

I would like to use a product to either reduce the dust buildup or ease the process of removing the dust. I haven't tried a polymer on top of the wheel yet, the only polymers that interest me are online and my order wouldn't be big enough yet.

Any suggestions for a good over the counter polymer to go on rims???

Good thinking about changing brake pads.....

About not wanting to mail order.......Zaino has local distributors in major cities. Call or email Zaino and find out if there is one near you. I got Zaino from a local distributor.

Also Meguiar #20 Polymer Sealent is rare but sometimes can be found in your local Napa auto parts. Mind you it has clearning properties so treat it like Nu-Finish. It is pretty expensive at about $16 per bottle.

Deep Freeze, like gti said, Nu-Finish works pretty good. I bought some used wheels(clear coated aluminum). I tried a BUNCH of different products on them. Believe it or not, Nu-Finish did the best! I did each wheel about 5 times with the stuff and they look almost new! The brake dust washes off real easy now!

Wow, you put on 5 coats of that stuff, heh. I do find it suprising that NuFinish is good for anything other than lining my trashcan, thus my hesistancy on using it. I will have to think about that, haven't really tried NuFinish, but have heard so many bad stories about it that it kept me away from it. I guess if it works, then that is all that matters.

Tried the stuff this week. The new version gives an awesome shine to your rims. I have yet to test durability, but if it is as good as the shine it should be great. It sprays on clear, and seems to dry pretty quick.

The old formula was always available in Toronto. Never had a problem getting a hold of it. I wonder if the new blue stuff is just the old formula repacked or a true reformulation????
