Quick review with pics: CG Pete's 53'

Got to use Pete's 53 for the first time yesterday, and just wanted to share a couple of thoughts and some pictures. It was quite easy to get as much or as little wax as I needed on my applicator. If you have used any of the Dodo Juice waxes, it was similar in composition to one of their soft waxes. A little went a long way, and it spread very easily. Cure time was about 5-10 minutes, even in the garage where the temp was probably not above 60. I applied to about half the car by hand and then removed with a Cobra blue rolled edge microfiber. No streaking, hazing, or leftover residue. It was a little more difficult to remove where it was applied thick, but not a real big deal. Added a lot of depth to the paint - it also smells pleasant. All in all, seems to be a great wax at a nice price. :bigups

Here are a few pics. This was just a routine wash/clean/seal/wax. This car is my daily driver that sits outside 24/7. It has not been polished since March 2010.

Paintwork process
Wash with DP Auto Bath
Clayed the horizontal surfaces with Pinnacle Ultra Poly Clay and FK 425
Wolfgang Paintwork Polish Enhancer
Menzerna Power Lock (~24 hour cure time)
Chemical Guys Pete's 53'

Thanks for looking!

Lookin' good Shane. Did you ever get that parking lot carnage fixed?

Well, I got a few quotes from various body shops to fix it: $1200, $1600, and $2200. The other person's insurance company cut me a check for $1900, so I could have had it fixed for $1200 and had $700 in my pocket. However, seeing as how this car is only worth $3500 at best (and I could probably get $3000 - $3500 if I were to sell it private party), I decided it just wasn't worth getting it fixed and instead bought myself a 27 inch iMac with a pair of Bose speakers. Merry Christmas to me! :yay

Sucks I have to live with a dent, but that's life. Loving the new computer though! No more of this --->:puterx:

Great work Shane. I have both Pete 53 and CG 50/50. I love both waxes !!!! Easy on and off and a nice carnuaba look. I only use these on my garage queens so I really don't care about durability.

CG does have some nice waxes...

Likewise, I too have both and think the CG 50/50 is one of the best waxes under $50.

Nice! That's a pretty good way to go :rockon

Nice review Shane... Pete's 53 is one of the waxes I have really wanted to try. I have heard the it is comparable in looks, durability, and sheeting to the more expensive Zymol Glasur. So I am really interested in your thoughts after a few weeks. Please keep us posted.

Good review. Love the car too, the simplicity of them just does something for me. Good job keeping it up.

What kind of durability does this wax have?

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments.

What kind of durability does this wax have?

Not sure, as this was my first time using it.

what year is that car? does sit run as good as it looks?

It is a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera SL 3.1L V6 with a little over 147,000 miles on it. It's my first car, and I have had it for almost 7 years. She has only left me sit 3 times (thankfully they were all at home and I just borrowed one of my parents' cars): once when the starter went out, once when the battery was dead, and once with a flat tire due to a large nail. Other than that, she's never really had to spend a lot of time in the shop. I am very glad - this car has been very good to me.
