Quick Help: Megs Pads and LC Pads

Tex Star Detail

Formerly TexasTB
I have been using, and still do use, LC pads. (5.5 and 6.5)
I use the Orange, White, Green, and Blue. I have a few yellow, but rarely, if ever use them for anything. Thing is, all of my FLAT pads are going south and I have been buying the CCS pads, which I cannot stand.

I want to switch over to Megs pads exclusively. Problem is, I have never used them before. Question is:
What does the Burgundy Pad compare to, as far as to LC pads?
The yellow one? I figure the Yellow Megs pads can be used with 105/205, Menz. SIP & Powerfinish, D151 and the likes???

I'm used to the 6.5 pads on the flex. Not sure I will like the 7 inch pads. Are the only differences between the older pads and the 2.0 pads the recessed area and the fact they are machine washable?????

Meguiar's.com and AG lists it as a cutting pad so I would think orange or yellow. Sorry I never used them. Says cutting without the marks of wool pads is all, so I would lean towards saying like an orange LC pad. The only LC pads I like are the ones that they Make for Poorboy's World (variable contact)

I have the LC-VC pads and they are over 5 years old and still good but I tried the CCS pad and hate it.
The CCS also did not last long it started chunking out.
The old Meguiars pads would not hold up to washing but they say the new ones are better.

For me I'm sticking with LC when it ain't broke don't try to fix it.

According to Michael Stoops from Meguiarsonline:

The LC orange pad falls between Meguiar's yellow W8207 Polishing Pad and Meguiar's burgundy W7207 Cutting Pad (maybe even leaning closer to our cutting pad). Further, the LC white pad is quite similar to our W8207 pad and we would normally recommend stepping down to our black W9207 finishing pad for application of a pure polish or wax.

Yes, I have used the yellow Meg's pad for all of the above products except Menz. SIP & Powerfinish, which I have never tried.

Pretty much. The yellow 7" 2.0 foam pads use the same foam as their older 6.5" yellow pads, however the 7" 2.0 burgandy pads uses a slightly different foam than their older burgandy 6.5" pads. I believe the older 6.5" burgandy pads are a little more aggresive than the new 7" 2.0 burgandy.

This is my understanding. With the older foam the burgandy pad wasn't recommended for use with the PC, now I believe you can use them with the PC (doesn't matter to you since you are using the FLEX). I really like the Meg's Yellow (polishing pad) for use with the PC, and it continues with the same foam as in the previous version, but probably won't be buy any of the new pads for use with the PC as IMO 7" is to big to be effective with the PC. Might buy one to try with the rotary though.
