Quick Flex Question

I'm assuming it uses a backing plate, can it use the same as my PC..........
No.

If you're talking about the Flex 3401 (DA) it comes with a special BP.

If you're talking about a Flex rotary then that BP is also different than what a PC uses, but it is commonly available through many vendors.

[quote name='Eliot Ness']No.

Will the pads from a PC fit this "Special Backing Plate"

It looks like the going price is around $279.00, anyone know if there are discount codes or a cheaper place.

apparently retailers in the us have been requested by flex corp to not monkey with the price. Of course.. uhm.. price fixing like this in the US is verboten so I wonder why this is occurring... *shrug*

Can Edge2K pads be used with Flex as well? If so, I might consider swapping my PC with a 3401. I have a set of their 6.5" and would rather not have to buy a new set of pads to go with the Flex.

Yes they can with the purchase of the custom edge adapter that is currently on back order. I heard there was a list of some sort to be on as they become available.

They perfectly match the BP. I will check, but I am pretty sure it takes 5.5 pads to perfectly cover the velcro.

it was a 6 in on the initial run then changed to 5.5 when they fixed the intial batch of defective plates

Excellent. That's what I was wondering; whether E2K made a new adapter for the Flex yet. Since you are a member of both club Flex (DA I assume?) and club rotary, how do you rate Flex against rotary in ease of use (vibrations etc.) and polishing ability? I am sure there have been threads on that topic here, but I am just too lazy today and thought to ask.

Sorry OP for hijacking your thread.

To me the Flex is a joy to use and for me I use it the Majority of the time.Rating it against a rotary. To me they are 2 different animals a rotary is seriously superir for the Flex to me bridges the gap between a pc/udm . I use my rotary for heavy correction do to the fact that I do detail for others and depending on the job I choose my tool for the task at hand.I love my flex and get excellent results using it .I was one of the first to obtain an edge adapter .So this way i can swap pads between my polishers Rotary,Flex ,UDM and PC. Flex to me is easier than a rotary to a point .Due the fact that it is a forced rotational orbital its a little safer but you can still do damage if your not careful. Vibrations I would say a minimal at best .Unit is extremely smooth

yes edge has a list all you have to do is contact them and they will be happy to add you to the list. they will then email you when they have some adapters for sale and list them on the website at the same time. i got mine a couple of weeks ago and really like it. you can even use the cyclo precision edge pads (4" pads).
