Quick detailing; ignorance lifted, and further insight gleaned

I don't think I really understood what QD is all about. As I understand it NOW, it is about cleaning a car without washing it.

(Insert long, exaggerated "OHHH" here).

Here is how I HAVE BEEN using QD, and I gotta say, this is one neat trick. I understand that I'm probably sharing common knowledge, but I'm willing to risk looking stupid if it helps someone else.

I use it every time I wash the car. My car is red, and I use the Souv paste to wax. I noticed that after washing, even using PBS, a little bit of the glow is gone. So, I figured that that's what the QD must be for; after washing, spray the Pinnacle QD.

1) It removes any question about how to dry the car. So what if The Absorber, or towel, or chamois, leaves little drops? It's all going to get QD'd away anyhow.

2) It's quick, at least on a Miata. I can wash and QD in an hour. Slowly.

3) It keeps me in touch with any recently developed dings, nicks and chips. I like to take care of them ASAP.

4) Damn if that glow doesn't just pop right back up. It's so alive, the car almost vibrates. Every time I walk past the garage, I have to open the door and look.

Anyhow, that's it. I now know that QD is for in between washes, but I've found it to be JUST AWESOME after washing.

Mosca,

I totally agree. I use Eimann Fabrik Clear Pearl QD after every wash of my wife's black Suburban LT. Works like a charm, just as you say, and it does indeed keep me in touch with the condition of the car. Which can lead to high blood pressure, of course.........so QD at your own discretion!!

It all boils down to whatever your satisfied with ! Some QD's are multi use, plastic, glass, rims, paint....Whatever else youd like to put it on...Some of the Quick wax products, like Eagle One and Meg's, are pretty much glorified QD's (or you could say QD's are watered down Quick waxes) either way....They are meant to save the consumer time, add minimal protection (which they do very well, dependant upon QD's), and basically are a "quick wax!"

Some QD's contain polymer (BF), some contain Carnauba (Megs), some contain neither (QS)....Some folks use them while drying, some use to clean their car with (NOT ME), some use daily, some use weekly (me)....Their very versatile...

I prefer to use them only between washes, not as a substitute...My aim using them is to extend washing periods, and that works very well for me.....:dance
