Quick Detailer

Wow - there's nothing like getting straight to the point!

I have a black miata (thin paint) and use QD often, with a mf towel; espfor getting bugs / water marks off :xyxthumbs . General rule of thumb for me is amount of dirt on the paint - it's a judgement call; same with the CCD I use... If fact I like QD so much I just ordered a gallon of the stuff!

It is safe to QD a black vehicle so long as you are doing it immediately after washing the car. QD'ing in between washes is a huge mistake. You will induce swirls in your clear coat. No QD can replace the lubricity of a good car wash.

First you need to accept the reality that any driven car will become dirty. You then need to accpet the reality that its ok if it stays dirty for a few days. Don't expect a showroom shine 365 days a year. You will just create more problems by trying to adhere to this standard. I've always believed that the more you touch your car, the worse off you will be.

I guess it depends on your ideology...

I've resigned myself to the fact that my car is a daily driver, out in the sticks, out in the elements 24/7 with no garage (in the UK), and is inevitably going to pick up some damage. Basically, as soon as I wash, the car gets dusty, or the moisture in the air condenses over-night and creates spots. I have no problem with using QD to remove those kinds of marks.

I prefer to have a clean tidy car when possible, and frankly, that invloves accepting that you are going to sacrifice some paint for the sake of looks.

I'm more willing to tackle the flaws more often than I am to drive around in a dusty / rain-marked car!

But I knew this was going to be a contentious issue before I posted, so there you go:cool::p

So, it all depends on where you're coming from!

That's cool. I respect that.
