Quick demonstration

I wanted to post these so Scott could see them, so here they are.

He and I got together for a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon, and although we talked a good deal more than we detailed, he did get some hands on use with a PC and a Cyclo.

We only really played around on the hood, but I think we made a pretty good dent on the surface imperfections. I think we'd need to step it up a bit on the hood and trunk deck (dark blue), but the rest of the car is silver, and not in bad shape at all. It really is one of the cleanest looking law enforcement vehicles around.

Anyways, here's a couple of pics.

This was a learning session??? Those halogen lights are a very useful tool when making paint corrections.

Yeah, he is looking to get a PC and some pads and such. I thought it might be nice if he got to use it a little before he spent all the money on it. Also got to talk more about process (polish - wax) and other detail-related things.

I never thought that I would say this but I miss Texas a little bit after reading your thread. I use chat to discuss products and process but it must be very nice to have an enthused detailer to do this with.

That's a hugh diffrence! JP, I've been thinking about getting a Cyclo to go along with my PC. From your experience, what is the diffrence between the two as far as paint correction goes? Oh yeah, I think I'm going to drive my patrol car to Alabama now so you can make mine look that good!

The Cyclo packs a good deal more punch IMO than does the PC. I wouldn't say it would eliminate the need for a rotary or anything, but I have done some pretty rough looking vehicles with the Cyclo and been very pleased with the results. It's a little more expensive as far as price goes, but it is definitely worth it to me.

We should all plan some sort of detail meet. You and Scott could both bring the patrol cars and we could talk about how you guys on the road bring us guys at the jails some very angry guests and we have to politley "calm them down." Haha. Nothing like jail stories to pass the time at the office.

Nice work guys! Actually this is kind of cool, considering that all the "cop cars" around here end up completely trashed because they aren't taken care of. Nice to see one actually being maintained for a change.

I am very appreciative for the chance to have used the PC and cyclo. I am definetly a novice when it comes to detailing. I almost felt embarrased to ask some of the questions I did because they must have seemed so elementary.
I had planned to buy a PC yesterday after using Jared's PC, but the wife put the brakes on that. All is not lost though. I have been looking at autogeek.net and trying to decide if I would be better off with a package deal or to buy a 7336 from lowe's then buy some pads later.

I hope so. My wife still has not let me pull the trigger on a PC. Whenever Jared gets some time I would like to do the rest of the car. I washed it today with Meguairs Gold Class and I think the hood has an even deeper and brighter look.

I keep seeing people post "my wife wont let me do this or that". I understand that you can't throw money around but don't you folks get any type of blowing money of your own, or is it a mutual decision of how much will be blown. Does the wife ask when she goes and gets a $50 haircut or it that a necessity to spend that much for a haircut. I can't blow as I will but I do have a slush fund that I can spend so much each month on whatever, whether it be family outtings or spending it on myself.....Just curious why people get controlled like that...of course every persons situation is different. Guess I couldn't take it if I had to get everything approved by the wife. I work...I pay bills..I don't see why I should have to get permission for every nickel I spend....If you can't "blow" that much in a month then set a little aside each month until you reach the required amount....

Runnerbl, I'm with you on that one. I can't see myself putting up with a woman controling me that way; no matter who/what she is. And besides that, the argument could easily be made that if you use the PC on her car too, the purchase actually benefits HER as well....

And hwypatrolman, since you're using this on your "work" car, couldn't you write off part of it as a business expense on your taxes?

I'm pretty sure the expense has to be necessary for the job or a way of improving your job in order to right it off. I'm not sure the IRS would accept swirl removal on a patrol car as either of those.

Are you sure? If the patrol car had a blinding reflection off of it, less people would be able to tell he was a cop. And the less who recognize him, the better chance he has of writing more tickets for speeders :lmfao

HAHA. I was trying to figure out today a way it could be written off, but I think you have found it. People are allowed to get away with much worse.

I probably will try to right it off. It's part of maintaining my car. I have promised to do my wifes car first, but it's still a NO to spending approx. 200 bucks on the PC, pads, polish, etc...
I have been looking at autogeek.net and it looks I can get a better deal by purchasing everything as a package. I was originally going to Lowe's to buy a 7336 then buy the pads and polish from another source.
One of the reasons for not spending the money now is that we are going to Hilton Head, SC in a few weeks and we would rather spend the money at the beach.
