Questions regarding Klasse SG

I am serriously considering getting some Klasse SG, however I have a few quick questions

1) How long does each coat have to cure before adding the next coat (I have heard 24, 12, and 1 hour), im looking at putting on 4 coats of Klasse SG and one or 2 coats of a topper?

2) Whats a good product to top it with?

3) How durable is it?

And finally do you feel its a good product or are there others that are just as effective with less work or cheaper.

Saleen, I used to let it sit overnight between coats. I'd wrap up late afternoon and do a quickee coat the next morning.

1) I've applied 3 coats one right after another on two occasions without any problems. I *think* I could see a difference. I dont know if I actually could, or I just wanted to so badly because I did the extra work. I maintain that I can! :D

2) I've only topped with a carnauba paste ONCE, and it worked well. Since, it seems it is intended to be layered, I probably wont top it again. It definitely has a look of it's own, and I have not used any other product that looks similar to it. You may like it, you may dislike it....Wont know until you try I guess.

3) I've experienced pretty decent durability with it in the times that I've used it. It's probably one of the more durable products I've used. I'd say with a few coats, 4-5 months wouldnt be a problem (with regular washing and quality soap).

The thing to remember with Klasse is that you do have to be careful when you apply it, and it may not look great to you. It's got a candy shell type of look. EVEN when you put it on really thin, it's still not the *easiest* product to take off. I dont have any problems with it; however, it doesnt rank up there with Poorboys EXP (probably one of the easiest products to remove I've ever tried) in terms of removal.

I can tell a difference between 1 and 2 coats. I don't know if additional coats have any value. I've used Menzerna HGAS as a topper, which worked well. I have put two coats plus the HGAS without any wait, but you may need to wait more if you want to stack up 5 or six total layers. Once you use a carnauba-based top coat, you can't go back with any future Klasse layers without stripping it back off. That's why I went with the HGAS. Also, the "candy shell" look is more pronounced on some cars/colors than others.

OK so Far i havent heard anyone saying bad things about it and I think im gonna go ahead and order it..... next month (when it freaking starts warming up)

ANd I dont plan on going back and using SG over a Carnauba (bad idea, been there done that).

No to figure out a topper.... New thread.

I absolutely can't stand how tough it is to take off, but I still use it religiously...go figure. It's in my favorite list for my own cars. It's tough as nails and looks great too! I do put it on with a finesse pad on my PC to help put it on thin, so it's not AS difficult to remove. I put on two coats, then top it with pinnacle series II every 2 months...then twice a year, strip it all, clay the car with some fine clay, and reapply 2 coats, wax, repeat. seems to be working well for me :)

Here's a couple pics of Trade Secret on my Black Impala SS.

What color are you working with?

Here's a pic of SG. It doesn't quite capture the "candy shell" look I'm refering to, but it comes closer than any other picture that I have.

SaleenFan- I've played around with different layerings and more is definitely better with regard to durability. Six layers lasts an *incredibly* long time for me..you'll get marring that needs polished out long before the KSG is gone (at least with the right shampoo, I use Griot's which seems to have *no* effect on the KSG).

Look-wise I don't see any improvement after four layers, but I'd sure go with the additional ones for the protection...you can *feel* it like a plastic film over the paint.

As for how KSG looks in general, I like it OK on some paints but absolutely hate it on others, you'll just have to see what you think.

I used to top it with #16, but I quit doing that so I can add more KSG from time to time (e.g., to areas that I spot-clay frequently). Can't say how TS would look; I tried TS as a Souveran substitute but wasn't favorably impressed.
