Question regarding NXT tech wax

Im wondering if NXT tech wax is safe to use with other waxes, i've heard that there's been some problems with it and zymol cleaner wax but im not sure. Reason i ask this question is because im gonna detail my car and doing it by hand in these steps:

1-wash

2-clay

3-wash-

4-meguairs step two polish or should i use other polish?

5-turtle wax carnauba(spelled right?) paste

6-then top it off with NXT tech wax

I don't have a pc so i gotta stick with the basic products. I also can get 3m PI-III rubbing compund and some other 3m products that i can incorporate into that list... or any other meguiars products. Anything else that i can add to that list that will spice things up a bit? Im also gonna use terry towels or mf towels from the local discount auto parts?

You don't want to put a cleaner wax over NXT because it will remove some/all of the NXT. You can top it with a carnauba that does not contain a cleaner. You may just want to wait 12-24 hours and apply another coat of NXT, then if desired try a carnauba topper 12-24 hours after that.

I don't know what two-step Meg's polish you are referring to. If it is #83 and #80 then it is a good combo. Also the 3M PI III RC and MG are very good polishes. It just depends on how severe the paint defects are that you're trying to correct/remove. To be safe start with #80 or MG then move up to #83 or RC if needed.

I would use the best MF towels you can find, cheaper MF's tend to leave marring on your paint. I think the Viking towels may be available locally, so that may be a place to start until you can order some higher quality MF's.

I wasn't gonna use the zymol, i was just curious to know if i can use the nxt with carnauba. Also what will i use for the lsp or sealant? Also i can't wait that long to put another coat of wax :p

Your LSP (last step product) is just that, the last product (wax/sealer) that is used, be it NXT (sealer) or a carnauba. NXT is considered a sealer, thus the waiting period for it to bond to your finish before the next coat or a topper.

So which would be better? Can i use nxt then carnuaba then wait a day and wash car then use nxt again?

I would skip the TW, and just apply two coats of NXT about 24 hours apart (after all the polishing of course). Then, wait a week or so to see how you like the look, and then maybe top with a carnauba like Scottwax suggested, to see if you prefer that look better.

So i just use nxt once and done with it? What is a pure carnauba that i can buy? Also so it would be wash, clay, polish, nxt? Anything else that i can add to that?

If you are going to top NXT, then don't use NXT over the topper since the light specialized cleaners will remove the carnauba. Why not lay down 2 layers of NXT a day apart then top with a carnauba?

If you are buying retail, go with Meguiars #26 paste or Mother's Gold.

K im gonna pick up the #26 paste. So i can just do polish, then #26 and top it off with NXT. Then a day or two later i can add carnauba? Sorry if im such a noob.

Wait i forgot that #26 is carnuaba.... So just do polish, nxt, then a day later add the #26? Or can i just do add em all at the same time. :nixweiss

Polish, NXT then #26.

I would highly recommend downloading the autopia e-book, it will give you are much better understanding of detailing and the proper order in which to use products.

KK so polish, nxt, then #26. Can i add anything a day or two later to give the paint more depth or shine? Sure do, im gonna dload it right now.

Im gonna order some MF towels and pads. Also when i want to spruce up the paint without waxing it i can use a QD in between wax periods? Like i can do a full out wax every month or so.

Why not try a couple of layers of the NXT, see how it looks and then top it with a carnauba if you want to experiment.

I finished my car with NXT and contacted Meguiars, they told me that NXT can be layered but not to bother putting more than 3 layers on. They also said to wait a day to apply an additional layer - to let the polymers bond.

I'm probably going to put a 2nd layer on then wait a couple of days and possibly putting a coat of P21S on top of it.
