Question regarding CQuartz UK vs Finest?

Thanks in advance for your help here, guys. An acquaintance is having his orange Lambo detailed by a professional detailer in the near future. The detailer suggested CQuartz UK. I was just curious as to why he would go this route as opposed to CQuartz Finest, if this was available to him, so upon inquiry, this was his response:

I chose to use CQUARTZ UK for multiple reasons:
1) More glass crisp looking shine where the cQuartz Finest is more plastic looking shine
2) the UK is stronger and more durable than the Finest as the UK was formulated as an upgrade years after the Finest was available
3) higher purity content than Finest
4) finest is more susceptible to water spotting because it`s not as pure as the UK
5) the UK is made for all seasons
6) you would definitely, definitely have no shortage of insane hydrophobic water beading

I am by no means an expert here (thus me seeking your opinions!), but I would have thought that Finest would exceed UK in pretty much all respects, especially longevity?

Could you guys please comment? I`d would be very appreciative!

Thanks, and Happy July 4th!

Cheers,

Allan

Allan,

I believe this Detailer is correct in his 6 points above..
Especially # 2 - The UK version came out later and after many Detailers used it, they all said it was a better product than Finest..

THANK YOU so much for your reply, Dan!!!! Great information to know. I wonder if any day now, CarPro will now come out with a "Super Finest"? Would make sense, I guess - have to blue the line between prosumer and consumer products some more.... :)

Thanks again!!!!! :autopia:

You might want to ask this over on the CarPro forum as there would more than likely be Finest users that can answer this better. I have used CQ Classic and CQUK. I think the CQUK is a "thicker" product but really I`m not sure it matters. Also I only have basic knowledge of Finest but I believe it has gone through a number up upgrades and revisions in the past few years. But those aren`t publicized on the forums due to the "pro only" status so most of us don`t get to know that info as to what was done or changed.

funny enough. cquartz finest posted a "teaser" video today on FB. I didn`t see anything different in the video though

Hi Allan, this is Corey with CarPro USA.

I would love to know the name of the detailer as I can`t imagine a single Finest installer which would be so misinformed. I suspect it was not a Finest installer at all and that`s exactly why they didn`t recommend something they don`t have.

See your original comments below and my reply just below each one.

1) More glass crisp looking shine where the cQuartz Finest is more plastic looking shine

I would characterize Finest as more of a reflective pure look with Uk as a deep glossy look but honestly I think my characterization as well as the one you heard are both almost worthless. No way to make a fact out of this one. Just a bunch of us trying to put something into words that could vary from person to person. U.K. Does hide fine marring more.

2) the UK is stronger and more durable than the Finest as the UK was formulated as an upgrade years after the Finest was available

That`s silly... And a dead giveaway the guy isn`t a Finest installer. CarPro has upgraded CQuartz, CQuartz Uk, and CQuartz Finest have ALL been upgraded multiple times with new tech since CarPro launched ceramic nanotech coatings in the USA 6+ years ago. Finest has been upgraded 7 times, CQuartz "classic" aka TiO2 - has been upgraded many also (3-4 off top of my head) CQuartz UK once or twice.

As far as stronger and weaker - uk cures to full strength faster for sure as its developed for cold climates and also cures harder without IR lamps.

Finest takes longer to reach its full strength then uk does but it`s extremely strong, hydrophobic, oleophobic, and boasts probably the best water spot resistant of any coating on the market (not that that`s saying ceramic coatings are great at water spots). But Finest we release even without Reload on them. U.K. we recommend dealing with reload a top it although FC has started a trend of topping uk with with cquartz

3) higher purity content than Finest

U.K. Is a higher Sio2 content than other coatings but that doesn`t make it better or worse. It`s one keyword that grabs your attention that neither you and I know what it means by itself. In short these are two completely different coatings!

Finest is a hybrid of both organic and inorganic and has a lot of tricks up its sleeve, it contains Sio2, Tio2, and a variety of other tech.

4) finest is more susceptible to water spotting because it`s not as pure as the UK

See comments #2, way off.... In fact it`s well known that a high content of Sio2 is more susceptible to water spots without having other special ingredients to help with that

5) the UK is made for all seasons

Bad info... They misunderstood when they read somewhere that uk is formulated for cold weather APPLICATION, that it meant its best for all seasons once cured. U.K. Is AMAZING and I would put it up against any coating to win in some categories and hold its own in others but the other CQuartz coatings are great in all seasons too.

6) you would definitely, definitely have no shortage of insane hydrophobic water beading
Yup, both are very hydrophobic.

The detailer could have put all that effort into explaining that it`s important to wash any coating regularly with CarPro Reset to keep it clean, iron X it quarterly or annually depending on use, and showing a first hand demo of proper washing technique. I suspect energy spent there really helping the potential client may have still acquired the client and in the end the client would have an amazing experience long term and the detailer sleep better.

Summary, either coating will make a very happy client if properly prepped, properly applied, and properly maintained. But the comments by this detailer are really off base.

Thanks for the heads up to whoever texted me about this thread. Happy to shed some light on that! Happy Independence day Autopia!

I`ll forward this information on to him, and maybe he`ll tell me who the detailer is.

Appreciate your input, and all the input, here. Thanks, everyone.
