Question re: correct use of quick detailer

Sorry for the newbie question...I continue to learn MUCH here and am very happy with the results I've acheived so far. Thanks to all the old veterans who post answers!

I have a 2002 black (sigh) Porsche. I love the way it looks with P21S wax, and don't mind applying that every 4-6 weeks or so...very easy. However...I'd like to minimize the # of washes I do because of the inevitable swirl marks. I've found that I can reasonably go 2 weeks by using the California duster daily...unless it rains!

Today, it rained (just washed it two days ago)....The car has water spots (dirty ones) all over it. Is this something I can use a QD and a microfiber towel on...or am I just asking for swril marks??

TIA

Hello claytons,

My policy is when in doubt, it's time for a wash. That is what I would do. Especially since you have a black car. No sense to take a chance.

I have an identical policy and actually only use QD for bird droppings or after a wash or CCD. Once it rains, my car stays that way until I wash it.

If there's only very clean water spots on the car I guess it'd be fine, but if it makes you even a little hesitant I'd go for peace of mind and just wait for a wash.

David had an article concernig QD. It said to do something like this: use a 3 gallon bucket of water and a mf to wash first/wipe first and then use QD. I was searching for the article but could not find it. It use to be in the article and tips section. Maybe someone else can find the tip.
