Question on Meguairs NTX tech wax...

For some reason my search mode won't work here at the job (dang firewall) so I was hoping someone could answer a question for me if it's not too much trouble.

I have a silver CLK500, currently using the Klasse twins and P21S. I've decided to try something different and I've heard some good comments on the NTX.

Question: Is this a product that can be layered? How is the shine on lighter cars? Durability?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Colin.

Can be layered after 24 hour cure times.

I've only used it on darker cars, and the shine is pretty darn good for an OTC product.

Durability is average.

I find most waxes are basically gone after a few washes and rainstorms anyways.

You're going to get a lot of mixed comments on NXT (not NTX; perhaps why your search was fruitless). Why do you want to try something different than your current combo? If you can tell us that perhaps you will get some constructive comments.

As someone who has used NXT and the Klasse twins/P21S-S100, I can tell you that on a lighter car (mine is tan/light brown) the Klasse and/or P21S looks a lot better than NXT.

NXT looks good - but Klasse and P21S look as good or better IMO.

NXT seems to look particularly good on dark colors.

In addition, Klasse has much greater durability and P21S has slightly greater durability than NXT in my experience.

Finally, NXT stains trim and moulding like nobody's business whereas the Klasse twins actually make trim look better while P21S/S100 doesn't stain.

Add all that up - and I think you will be disappointed moving from Klasse/P21S to NXT. That's a move down not a lateral move IMO.

I'm in the opposite position from you. I started out with NXT and then moved to the Klasse twins (supplemented by the ocassional use of P21S/S100) and I have no desire to go back to NXT.

There's a natural tendency among us Autopians to want to experiment with new products - try different looks.

However, these forums are here for us to learn from the experiences of others.

If you are sick of Klasse/P21S and want to try something different I would suggest that you try Zaino, Werkstatt, Duragloss or Collinite. I think you will be happier with the results from those products over NXT (especially with a lighter colored car).

If going with Meguiars products then use the #21 sealant wiill bead for two weeks then start sheeting which is what it is supposed to do ; will protect for 4 months or so.

The look is really good but how long the look lasts will have to rely on someone else for that.

sheeting is better than beading

Funny, I'm using NXT on my new frost white Rendezvous and have been thinking of getting Klasse AIO/SG (although I probably wasn't gonna top the twins with the P21S carnuba!) THinking the acrylic might offer better protection.

With NXT, I get really good gloss, reflection and a wet look, especially being frost white. After a clean prep, I applied with the pc 7424 and it gave me a very glass like finish. I have been augmenting by applying the NXT spray every three weeks, or so. It's fast and re-inforces the shine and protection. But I can't compare it to Klasse or any other wax/polymer of combo. I also can't speak to long term durability at this point - but it is important to me too... Winter is coming and I'm in the Northeast and need something to hold me between fall and spring....unless there's a warm spell to take advantage of.

I like NXT on just about everything. It's great on black, red, light blues, white, metallics, you name it. It's one of my favorites.

The overall shine of NXT cannot match your current combo, in my opinion.

Also, NXT has a rather short life span compared to other sealants. It is ultra easy to apply and take off though and offers very wet, clear reflections. So long as you use the NXT Booster Wax after every wash, the shine and durability are retained greatly for ~3 months. However, after that you're living off the Booster application.

For the money, I feel that there are products that offer better protection and look a bit better as well.

Poorboy's EX, EXP, Natty's Blue...all are great products and would look wonderfully wet and reflective on Silver.

Zaino has its place, I just can't choke the price, but it looks great on metallics, especially silvers.

Thanks everyone for your comments. It's greatly appreciated. Like I said Im using the twins and P21S and I'm happy with it but like someone already said I just want to experiment and try to see what other products will do for my CLK 500.

I have to blame it on you guys. Detailing can be fun and addicting, dang it. :)

Again, thanks.
