Question on how to use soft top protectant (BMW/Autosol)

I got the BMW top cleaner and impregnating agent(both seem to be Autosol products) today. I asked at the dealer how to use the protectant, it comes in a 250ml bottle, and they told me to fill the cap of the bottle with the stuff and dilute that with 2.5 litres of water and apply with clean sponge.

When I read the instructions on the bottle, it says to dilute bottle contents with 2.5 litres of water. That looks to me as I have to dilute the 250ml instead of just filling the cap and dilute that. Otoh I think the whole bottle looks like a bit too much for the top? Stuff aint cheap as well;) Anyone on here used the BMW or Autosol protectant stuff?

Another question, after cleaning the top, should I let it dry before using the protectant?

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

I wish I could help but my carvas topped vehicle is protected by an aerosol protectant (RaggTop). Clean, allow to dry and than just spray on. Done. No mixing. Canvas top beads just like the painted surfaces. :xyxthumbs

You might try calling or e-mailing the company for clarification of conditions (wet or dry top), mixing amount and application instructions. Personally, I would just follow the instructions on the bottle for mixing and apply to a cleaned and dried top.

Hope this helps. :wavey

Thanks:) Well the Raggtopp stuff is not easy to get here, so I went to the dealer and got their stuff. I just visited a German convertible forum and many people there use the BMW product and don't seem to use the whole bottle for one treatment, I posted the question there as well now, so hopefully they can give me an idea of the mixing amount:)

Experience and successful results from other users should definitely direct you down the path for proper usage. Nothing like reliable first experience by others. :xyxthumbs
