Question for Florida Detailers

Everyone who lives in Florida knows that love bugs are a big problem. I was wondering what some of you do with painted bumpers that have a lot of pitting from love bugs. I scrub the bumper, then clay it. Going over it with compound and wax sometimes seems to make them more noticeable, especially on darker cars. I am just wondering what some of the other Florida detailers do. Thanks for the help.

im not from florida, but up here in pa where its all amish fields and the bugs are flying we get hit hard! if all fails with your cleaner and clay. ill usally wetsand with 2000! i don't upcharge nor do i tell the customer i do it! but the extra 15 minutes sanding the front surface is well worth it!

Well, as you know I live in Tampa just like you and I wetsand, then polish it out. You cant do much else. Bug guts are very acidic and they etch themselves into the clearcoat. I will generally start with 3000 grit and work my way down until Im past the etching and then work my way back up and then polish.
