Question about Zaino prep..

I have tried NXT, Souveran, Klasse Twins, Wolfgang, and any combination of them to get the perfect shine, but I find myself wanting to come back to Zaino on my GTO, especially with Z2Pro and Z8 out now.

I plan on polishing with SSR2.5, then SSR1 to help out with the minor webbing, swirls, and any water spots. Should I then use AIO, even though the SSR line contains no oils or fillers?

I'm a little confused with the ZFX, as at this stage, I would apply the Z1 and assume it is prepping the paint for the Zaino system. Does applying the ZFX simultaneously with the polish achieve the same results? Basically what I'm asking is what should I do post-SSR polish, pre-Z5 polish to ensure proper bonding with the surface.

I don't have any anwsers for you, but you have read my mind. I am wondering the same exact thing.

I love AIO so much, I could not imagine leaving out of paint prep.

I am currently using AIO + s100 on my BMW and AIO + SG on my 4runner, and I think I may give zaino a try this summer, but not sure how much better than SG it is and how to prep for it.

Free bump to the top.

Zaino Products-Z-1 Polishlok (ZFXâ„¢ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive is the latest innovation and designed as a substitute and/or replacement for Z-1.)

Zanio Application:

Clean-paint film surface with a chemical cleaner / polish (Klasse All-In-One) using a grey / black foam pad, speed # 4.5-.5.0 and a machine lier speed (MLS) of 2- feet per second (FPS)

Polymer Application Methodology-

Once paint surface has been prepared

â€Â¢Apply Z-6 to entire vehicle surface using water-dampened applicator.

â€Â¢Apply Z-solution very thinly using absolute minimum pressure on the applicator.

â€Â¢Spray the vehicle surface very lightly with Z6 between each â€Ëœlayerâ€â„¢.

â€Â¢I cannot emphasise â€Ëœapply products very sparinglyâ€â„¢ enough

â€Â¢0.5 â€â€œ 1.0 oz should be sufficient for most vehicles

â€Â¢Apply three coats of Z-5 + ZFX for dark colours or Z2Proâ„¢ + ZFX for light colours, spray the applicator with Z-6.

â€Â¢Allow a cure period of 48 hours before wiping down the vehicle with Z-8

â€Â¢Apply Zaino Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal to the final coat of Z2PROâ„¢ before the application of a last step product (LSP) Carnauba wax

Z1 is just an alcohol solution that strips oils from the paint and may contain some kind of polymer bonding agent. Contrary to all the high science you read about Zaino, its not rocket science to apply, it just doesnt want to get applied over oils.

No need for both Z1 and ZFX. It's an either or type deal. If you want multiple coats at once, go with ZFX.

AIO won't be necessary after the SSRs, but it won't hurt anything.

A Carnauba wax over the new Z2pro is purley subjective. Some like it and some hate it. I guess it would depend on personal taste and car color. Z2pro is intended to be the LSP.

One thing I found .. Z2 Pro unlike Z2 doesn't like being applied when its cool out .. I have appled Z2 to my Black B5.5 in the mid 40s and not a problem .. Z2 Pro applied in the same temps doesn't seem to cure at all and is VERY suceptable to micromarring.

I ended up buffing the Pass side out and just doing the Z2 out of curiosity and its fine .. but Z2Pro applied at the same time on the next panel mars easily.

I have since taken it off and gone with the Klasse twins till its a lot hotter out then I will try it again.

I've learned this tip from BlkZ28Conv............

Since Zaino bonds best to clean, oil & wax free paint, try this: After prepping, use a 50/50 mixture of rubbing alcohol & water to wipe the paint clean of all oils/ wax. Then, it's on to the Zaino! From what I've been reading as of late, It appears Zaino will be introducing a "prep type" product in the near future which will eliminate the need for the alcohol wipe.

They have one now ,, its called Dawn

There is no need to top Zaino with any other product other than the new Z8 Spray Seal. In my recent experience with Z5/Z2 Pro/Z6/Z7/Z8, the Z8 really enhances the gloss/shine/depth/reflectivity of the "Z".

Z8 = SUPER TOPPER!
