question about truck beds

I know this is probably a stupid question but I just wanted to make sure I was on the same page as other detailers.

When you detail pickup trucks do you give the bed of the truck the same treatment as the rest of the vehicle? I know that you should at least wash it but are you expected to polish and wax it also?

IMO, truck beds get so used and abused that it seems like a waste of time to detail. What do the rest of you guys do when it comes to this?

i clean the bed with the powerwasher & thats it . if they want it hand washed or something like that it would be extra .. one guy wanted dressing on his bedliner & i charged him $25.00 for time & materials

Same here. I live in farm country so you can imagine how much crap is in some of them. If they want it cleaned I give them an outragous price both to discourage them and if they still want it, get my money out of it.

Tell them up front it will be extra to wax the bed.

I usually wash out the bed w/ one of my work towels. They're usually pretty dirty so you don't want to use your normal wash mitt.

in the vehicles i have done i have only just washed the truck beds and nothing more . no sense of polishing waxing something that is going to get abused the next day. unless it is a show car i dont think i would do anything more than wash unless they want to pay extra

I have waxed 2 truck beds in 17 years, I will never do it again. Both case scenarios after whining to my managers the bed of their new truck wasn't waxed I ended up doing it, only to have the customer transfer wood, chainsaws, chains, and other tools in a "one truck to the otha" throw. I was not impressed. Waxed bed=$$$$$$$. I refuse, period, like the other responses they get power washed and that's that unless it is truely a show truck.

My $0.02...

In writing up the ticket, I will look at it and go over it with the customer. If it's a work truck (scratches, dings, etc.) usually it gets skipped, for the customer doesn't want to incure the extra cost. If it's obviously not used as a work truck, and it's paint, I will throw on some express wax just to spiff it up. If there is a bedliner in it, I will clean and dress it. Why else do we charge extra for trucks if we're not gonna do extra work??

As far as the truck bed havent had anyone want the bed waxed maybe just washed out but that bout it
