Question about "The Perfect Shine" process

Hi Folks

I've read two slightly different versions of "The Perfect Shine" process. There's the current one on bettercarcare.com (http://www.bettercarcare.com/articles.php?articleId=28) where David recommends P21s products and an older? one on this board (http://www.autopia.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8590&highlight=the+perfect+shine) where he recommends Pinnacle products.

The thing I'm curious about is: the order of use of the two "Paintwork Cleansers" is switched. In the "older" version the Pinnacle PCL is used before polishing and in the "newer" version the P21s Cleanser is used after polishing. But don't the two products perform essentially the same function and, if so, why the switch? And, wouldn't using AIO after the P21s Cleanser just remove any "glazing" effects of the P21s?

Thanks!

The two products have comparable jobs.

I would go with the newer article. It is less confusing and contradictory than the older one, and is in step with current methods where you do major polishing before finishing up with something light like that.

I think part of the mix up, and to answer your question, it depends on what you're using the product for. David seemed to be using the PCL in the old article to just clean up the surface a bit after claying so that he could inspect the paint better. In the later article he's probably using it as an extra fine final polishing step. Yes, AIO will remove some or all of the glaze-like coating the P21S leaves behind, but that's not why he used it.

Hope that makes sense.... :p
