Question about quick detailing..

When dusting your car before using Meguiars quick detail..would moistening a MF towel and using that to wipe of the dirt/dust introduce new scratches into the car's paint?

Probably. If you are going to dust off your car then I would suggest using a California Car Duster. Even that has the potential to scratch your car though. I'm not a big fan of that. If your car is so dusty that you can't just QD it and make it clean then you probably need to wash it. If its been more than a week since you washed or used any QD then its probably just time for a wash. Its better than introducing new scratches.

Yeah I don't know how I could stand QDing my car before I bought my CCD. Now the CCD gets most of the dust, and I just have to take care of the little bit left over. I prefer to spray it onto the paint itself, but if the surface was a bit dirtier, I'd probably spray both paint and cloth.

Nah. That was me. And it wasn't kindling. I'll admit that I threw away the handle. I actually used it for a torch. :D It was even one of the rare wooden handled dusters too. It would probably be a collectors item by now... Still, you cause swirls in my car and you die. Let the duster be an example for you. lol ;)

Since joining here I've picked up a CCD and use it every evening prior to my daily QD treatment. I also add just enough water to my cotton towel to make it slightly damp but not wet. Then I spray some QD on the damp towel and apply it to my truck. I finish by wiping with a dry cotton towel. So far this routine has worked great; everyone that sees my truck thinks I must wash it daily.
