How wide are the quick connect pads for the DA polisher and can they be used with a rotary and its adapter?

The E2K DA pads are 6" wide. The pads can be used on both dual action polishers (PCs) and rotary buffers. You will just need 2 different adapters since the rotary and PC machines have different threads.jason rawls said:

I'll answer you last question first . Yes the DA pads can be used on a rotary and visa versa but they say using the bigger pad on the PC is bad on the bearings. As for " How wide the QD pads are for a PC" I'm not sure what you mean by WIDE , the pads a 6 inch pad with the thickness of 2 pads .

Just so your not confused by my post . The adapters for the rotary and PC are different only on the threaded end . Where the pads connect are the same size.

Thanks guys that pretty much answers my questions. I already have some pads and an adapter for the rotary but the only problem is that the 9.5 inch pads don't suit me well all of the time unless I'm working on large and flat surfaces.
I'd like to be able to switch to a smaller pad when needed without having to take the adaper off and put on a backing plate. I'm new to rotary usage and smaller pads are easier for me to manage than large pads.
Since Edge only makes one size pad to use for the rotary, I was hoping that the pads for the PC would be smaller so I could just use them. The thing that I do like about the E2K system is that it is easier to reach certain places such as underneath spoilers and mirrors, plus having double sided pads is more convenient too.

Just a couple things to consider -
The shape of the E2K DA pads is different from the rotary pads. Besides the difference in width, there is also a difference in thickness with the DA version being quite a bit thicker than the rotary version. In addition, the rotary version has beveled edges while the DA version has rounded corners. I posted a whole series of pad comparison pictures a few months. Here are a couple re-posts to illustrate the differences.

- blue: Edge2000 DA
- white: Edge2000 Rotary
